The hotel itself met the standard of the Ritz-Carlton line in terms of beauty and service. The lobby is very pretty, and the rooms are fantastic--luxurious and clean. The location is perfect, with a view of the Nile, and close to many great locations in Cairo.
Vivo, the Italian restaurant there, is excellent and the service we received there was also wonderful.
The only complaints I have are related to the service we received at their 24-hr bank, and two of the restaurants (Bab El-Sharq and the Lobby Lounge). The rep at the bank was not very helpful, and the service at the two mentioned restaurants were very much lacking--we were sitting at a table in the Lobby Lounge for over ten minutes without anyone offering a menu, and service only improved when I went to complain to the manager.
Overall, the stay was pleasant, and the hotel staff was very friendly. It's a bit harsh to dock a star for the service at some of the restaurants, but it left a lasting impression.More
