“FACE MASK CHANGING”
Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Came for dinner as part of a Wendy Wu Tour - there were 15 of us at two tables in the courtyard:Peking Duck was fine but no the mind blowing experience as I was looking forward to - probably a little too fatty & the pancakes were too thick & a little flowery .Numerous other dishes arrived in a fairly haphazard fashion which were good & tasty -but far too much food.
But what made the evening very special was the cabaret - topped by the Face Mask Changing artist. We were right at the front of the stage plus he changed one mask right infront of my wife & I -still couldn't work out how he did it - total magic & an absolutely brilliant performance.
The building is also an attraction - way of the top Chines themed architecture: A fun night with more than acceptable food -possible tourist trap but heh we are tourists!

“Very accessible for Western guests ”
Reviewed 4 weeks ago via mobile

Came for one thing and one thing only: proper peking duck, and Hua's delivered just that.

Don't be deterred by the masses of people waiting outside as there is a lot of take-away available for which most, if not all, people are waiting. Head in and you'll be helped by English speaking staff (if not, they will be called for you).

We had the full duck with side dishes (168 RMB only), which was simply excellent. It is cut for you at your table (refer to pics) and comes with the pancakes etc. Rest of the menu looked great too (esp. on the neighbouring tables), but we had no more appetite after a full duck.

Highly recommended.

“The architecture is a highlight”
Reviewed 4 weeks ago via mobile

We had a great meal here. Dishes were very finely made with near perfect cooking timing. The surroundings of this restaurant is one of its biggest selling point. It was a private, typical Beijing style, residence. The restaurant took pain to retain the architecture characters. They have staff that can give guided tour in many languages. Service was very good as well. Unfortunately could not comment on the price because we were invited. TO ensure a table, reservation is highly recommended.

“Nice to Visit and Once would do me”
Reviewed 9 June 2017 via mobile

Hua's restaurant opens at 9pm according to my sources and closes and 4:30am. I'm not sure about the 10:30am opening time. This place is on a strip where many restaurants exist. We picked it as it didn't have a queue. 10mins from Grand Hyatt and 50RMB BY TAXI, it easy to get to. Just make sure you have a strategy to get back.

At this restaurant we had a snack after our main business dinner. So it's a good place to retreat. There's free flow German beer till 10pm. Try the scallops, oysters, dumplings and the red mini lobsters. Don't get the 20 mini lobsters for 108RMb as they are small and don't have much meat. By many of the individually sold mini Lobsters for 12/18RMb as they are larger.

You need to eat the mini lobsters with plastic gloves which they will give.

The roasting lamb on a spit, looks good too.

Worth coming here for something different and also for night market action. There's plenty of yoghurt stores along the street.

If you're from out of town, ask the restaurant to order you a taxi or you may not be able to get back to your hotel unless with a local companion.

For 2 large scallops, 1 large oyster, 1 pan fry dumpling and 20 mini lobsters our meal cost 410RMB. That works out to be a good price and something different for what we ate.

“Nice restaurant, a must do in Beijing is Peking Duck somewhere, why not here?”
Reviewed 2 June 2017

In a pretty happening area. A lot of people on the street, sitting, drinking boiled water in order to get into some other trendy joint. We were whisked in right away on the red carpet (nice touch). If you have the money, get the whole duck - they come slice it at the table. We had this hawthorn jellied thing that was supersweet, otherwise we enjoyed all that we had.
