This was my first time in China and the staff of this hotel made my stay so much less daunting than it could have been!

First of all, this is a really high quality hotel in an excellent location- walking distance to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square, as well as lots of shops. The hotel was clean with lovely rooms and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. No request was too silly for them- a few times during our stay the concierge wrote our daily destinations down for us in Chinese- it made getting a cab so much easier and was so nice of the staff to think of!

They were also very helpful re: places to eat -- they recommended a little local place for Peking duck, walking distance from the hotel, that was fantastic and off the beaten track enough to be interesting (not just a standard tourist experience).

I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Beijing.

I've stayed in a few Crowne Plaza chain of hotels and I've got to say I was kinda disappointed with the standard of the room. The room is small and the bathroom is a squeeze. Furnishings and fixtures are VeRY dated and the room I was in still used BOX TV which really should be in the museum by now!!

The hotel should have been rebranded to a lower star-rating hotel as it didn't live up to the usual standards. I cut short my stay there and moved to Chaoyang U-Town's Crowne Plaza instead and it was so much better and a breath of fresh air.

If location is important to you, I recommend other hotels in the area as you won't expect the standard you would normally expect from a Crowne Plaza hotel.

The Mgmt ought to revamp and definitely high-time to renovate the hotel ... Otherwise it'll do much injustice to the Crowne Plaza name and reputation.

Room Tip: None! Unless they revamp and renovate the place, you might have the creeps even to stay for the night!

Our recent holiday in Beijing was wonderful, thanks in large part to our stay at the Crowne Plaza hotel. We were wary about visiting China especially since it is a non-English speaking nation. Our stay at the Crowne Plaza was instrumental in making our holiday enjoyable, firstly given its vantage location at Wangfujing Avenue, it was easy for us to get to the main shopping areas. It is also very close to the historic attractions of the forbidden city and the Tiananmen square. The staff at the hotel were also very warm and friendly, and could speak fluent English. The staff were very resourceful in helping us organise our daily activities while in Beijing. The rooms were very comfortable and the range of culinary options during the breakfast buffet make us feel very much at home while in Beijing. In short, I strongly recommend the Crowne Plaza hotel in Beijing.

Reserved room at this hotel via internet while in Kathmandu. Total cost for three nights at internet rate was USD 321.19. The room was modern, bright and well-furnished. A refrigerator and coffeemaker enabled us to bring breakfast snacks from a nearby bakery supplemented by fruit and juice from Seven-Eleven, also nearby, in order to avoid pricey buffet breakfast. Location close to Wangfujing pedestrian mall provided shopping, eating and entertainment options including nightly line dance in Catholic church courtyard and meals in the seven-story mall, containing about twenty restaraunts, just to the left of the entry to the pedestrian only area.

Room Tip: Fifth floor room overlooking Wangfujing Street offered excellent view of street's activities.
