I booked this hotel through a air/hotel package through the Cathay Pacific Holiday website, and for its location.
I found the room quite lovely, and I would not consider it being small. It's been renovated in 2005 as mentioned and everything looks new. One thing I am not too crazy about is the frosted glass wall between the bathroom and the main room. If someone goes to the bathroom at night and turn on the light, it may bother another person who is still sleeping.
We utilized their main buffet restaurant every morning as it's included in the package. The staff was quite pleasant overall, but can be inconsistant depending on which staff you get. The selection is satisfactory, with lots of pastry items, cook-to-order omlette, chinese congee items, and fresh fruits. However, you won't find any "wow" factors here.
Location is good, but not as great as I expected. If you are comfortable walking, and your main objective is sight-seeing around the Wangfujin area, this is the place. But if it's not, the transportation in Beijing is so good that there are many choices (plus quite a few great restaurants I love are not close to this hotel) out there that may offer more values for the money. Having said that, I would not have any problems recommending this hotel to others.More
