Newly refurbished office building converted to a hotel on the third ring is pretty but missing some practical points. I read all its reviews before booking and the only thing accurate were the pictures. Staff tried very hard but missed out on finer things like serving your food with napkins, helping you with your luggage at the front door, general greetings.
The room was well furnished - usual amenities, fluffy towels, safe, bedroom slippers and bath robes. However if you were a tall person the rain shower head would be way too low and watch out for the shower curtains that just can't get past its railing fixtures to completely enclose the wet area.
Some of the staff did speak English so that was good and the hotel has many cafes etc for various business meetings or lunches. The occupancy must have been at an all time low as the dinner buffet was abandoned with little attention. Cooks were absent from the grill station and the Peking duck corner.
My biggest peeve is that the hotel is not at all close to the station Sanyanqiao. I dragged luggage for quite a distance and with no escalators and helpful slopes in sight you're lugging your bags up and down stairs and into tunnels to cross the third ring road highway which is very very wide. Coming into the compound the Signages for the hotel were poor and all in all I walked about 25 mins from express train exit to hotel entrance - and I'm a fast walker!
I chose to stay in Sanyanqiao area because the airport express stopped there, its access to Haidian qu where my clients were and access to line10 which also takes you downtown. The 3rd ring is also comparatively less congested.
Yes comfort was high, but convenience was low. I was half hour delayed for my meetings which did not bode well. I doubt I will stay there again on another biz trip, maybe on a holiday!
