For anyone who wants to take a simple walk (morning to night) or just want to exercise i believe this is the place to be. It's mostly popular along locals, but not too crowded. Avoid midday as it's going to be very hot. Other than that, some more trees or shadow might be a good use:)

With the drop of popularity for Pokemon Go, the walk has certainly been more peaceful and relaxed. Because of a patch, many pokestops have been removed, and so the rewards gained are no longer worth it. During day time it can get a bit to sunny, and sometimes there are mosquitoes, but during the night, it's usually a quiet walk with a nice breeze, looking across the water at the science park and the Tai Po highway. There are paths for walking, jogging and bicycles, so it's certainly worth coming.

Overlooking Sha Tin hoi Bay on one side and various residential and commercial establishments on the other, the 3.2 km long Ma On Shan Promenade offers a perfect example of a people-oriented (civic) project. It offers a pleasant opportunity for the large number of people living in the surrounding (and
crowded) tenement buildings to get some fresh air in very convivial surrounds.
The promenade itself is very well constructed as far as the civil engineering
and aesthetic aspects are concerned. However, it is the various secondary
facilities (all high standards) that make it complete. There are separate
tracks for walking, jogging and biking, children's playground, fitness corners
for the elderly, pavilions, Tai Chi corners are some more. The promenade is
always busy, especially with joggers and walkers at all hours of the day (and
night) and is safe at all hours. If not feeling energetic, one may sit in one of the many
benches all along the promenade and just enjoy the ambiance and see a world go
by.

We decided to hop on a local bus to any destination and ended up at Ma On Shan. It was a delightful place to visit and walk along the promenade, although we did not have enough time to walk the full length. Not many tourists here (if any) and it was great to get away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong city. The bus ride was about 50 mins through very interesting areas on both Hong Kong Island and Kowloon - unfortunately I cannot remember the number of the bus, but we caught it from the express bus station near Central Railway Station.

A friend lives near the promenade, we had a pleasant walk on a fine day overlooking the sea and the hills.
