21 Whitfield is an aparthotel in Tin Hau. It is located a 5 minute walk from the MTR station with easy access to Victoria Park. Bus no 5 terminates right outside the front entrance to the property. Electric Road is very close by with many many places to eat.
So on to the property itself. To say that the reception area is minimalist would be a massive overstatement. There is a single desk there and once you get past that, there are two elevators and that is it. I found that during most of my stay there the reception area was cluttered with departing or arriving guests luggage.
Each floor consists of two self contained appartments, There are three classes of room, Standard, Harbour and Full Harbour view. Initially we were booking into a standard room. This is a room on one of the lower floors and all we could really see were the buildings that surrounded us. This also meant that people living or working in those buildings could see in to our appartment, so we had to keep the blinds shut. We upgraded to a full harbour view and it was much better and we had a great partial view of the harbour. Unfortunately some architect had designed and built the CitiCorp building which blocked the view of much of the harbour.
Our small appartment consisted of a small bathroom. The shower was over the bath tub which personally I do not like, preferring a walk in shower. The kitchen area was small with an induction hob, kettle and toaster. It was fully equipped, apart from a corkscrew, which was irritating but easily remedied. There were several food stores close by.
The living area consisted of a small sofa & coffee table. There was a good quality TV and iPod docking station. The working desk was good as was the wifi connection in the room. I thing you had to have a degree in physics to work out how the lights worked which i found to be most annoying.
One last thing that was no tto my taste was that the be itself was on wheels and moved about a great deal but i guess that is more down to me being a restless sleeper.
21 Whitfield is quite expensive and is slightly disappointing do to the fact that there are no out of room facilities. Next time I think i will stay at Metropark Causeway Bay, where you most definitely get more bang for your buck
