I was there last Feb 17 to 19 for our Calderys SEA Distributor meeting.
The location was accessible to lots of stores and eatery.
The room was booked by our meeting organizer, was assigned rm 308, although i request to have a higher room, they said its fully booked. One thing I regret is not complaining about the smoking floor where my room is! i had to suffer the foul cigarette smell for 2 nights! It would have been nice if they ask me if smoking or nonsmoking. but seeing that they freely smoke anywhere it mustnt have been an important issue with them.
The window is small, feel like claustrophobic. the view was the hotel dark back alley and aircon compressor area. not impressive.
The aircon thermostat is good, can have as cold as i want.
the bathroom was clean and has a glass panel facing the bed.
the complimentary slipper was thin poor quality not worth bringing home.
the hotel socket is F type and no international outlet, had to buy an adapter from mall. wish they could have a more concern to install international outlet for benefit of tourists.
Buffet at cafe was excellent! variety of indonesian and international food.

Room Tip: Make sure you specify to have nonsmoking floor. and a better view other than the back alley view.

The Akmani was the first hotel in which my wife and I laid our heads after a grueling flight from Canada. Having booked online with very little knowledge of what to expect, we were pleasantly surprise by almost all aspects of greeted us. It is a modern, well staffed hotel that can meet almost any demand a traveler might have. As stated before, the breakfast buffet is a standout, although the regular restaurant and bar are also good. Located in the centre of Jakarta, it is where you want to be. If I were to have one complaint, it would be that the rooms are a bit on the small side. Otherwise it is a great value for money.

breakfast was good and varied - had Indonesian, western & Chinese offerings
swimming pool is short and in breakfast/event room - don't go if you are shy
rooms are decent; however mine had only one outlet to plug all my electronics into
located on good street with many restaurants and near Sarinah store - buy batik there
across the street from a great massage and sushi place

I paid USD80 and found this to be a very comfortable place in chaotic Jakarta.

Room
I was upgraded to suite for free because they only had rooms near the nightclub. Both rooms were well decorated, dark but comfy. Bed comfortable. Bathroom modern. Safe, hair dryer etc.

Hotel
Very friendly service, gave me free upgrade, called taxis etc. Lobby is not much, but there is a teashop and restaurant. No real amenities here.

Location
Many restaurants and a few shops, and malls nearby. Traffic bad, but that's Jakarta. There wasn't as much around the area as I had predicted. You have to take taxis to malls or sites. Desk will call a bluebird for you.

Room Tip: Upper floor. Bottom floors are right above the nightclub.

Akmani is situated @ one of the busiest parts of Jakarta. It is a 30 minute drive from the airport in terms of distance but you might end up taking an hour considering Jakarta's notorious traffic. We stayed for 1 night and this was one of those hotels which made us feel that this was definitely worth staying for future trips. The lobby is pretty small and there is a cafe sharing space with the lobby. The rooms offer a decent view of the city, mostly construction sites & slum-like dwellings. We stayed in a deluxe room which was quite big enough and very clean with plush interiors. The bathroom (the main part of any room) was spacious, the beds big and cosy and lots of space to walk about. The staff are friendly and kind enough to offer us non-smoking, non-connecting door rooms which we had not asked for @ the first place when we reserved online. Breakfast was good, mostly international with some native dishes as well. Plaza Indonesia & Grand Indonesia, JKTs biggest malls are minutes away from the hotel, probably 10 to 15 mins if you take a cab. Cab services (Blue bird to be specific) are available anytime and the reception staff can help book in advance. A few minimarts, multicuisine restaurants and even a cinema hall are at walking distance from the hotel. Was surprised to see Komalas (Indian vegetarian cuisine) just next to the hotel. Overall its a good value for money.
