Awesome jeep ride
A jeep cost about 350k to 450k Rupiah, so if you go with more people, more worth it
The road up is soooo bumpy, and dusty
But a very good experience

The view is also magnificent.

I have traked Merapi and it is amazing!

The way up is very hard and I have done it during the night to see the sunrise from the top.

I advise you to check if you are really ready to do the treking because its arround 4 hours of really hard path up and 3 down... but it worth every minute.

Choose a guided tour and you will have the support of the guides and meet other people on your way up!

After paying aprox 10€ aprox per person, you find poor infrastructure and conservation (paths closed, missing steps in staircase in viewpoint, litter). Only sign in English is to say that foreigners pay more, after that, all signs in Indonesian haha

Our driver, Edo (+62-878-3999-9787) took us to the Merapi Volcano area. We went on a jeep tour over rocky, dusty roads. We had face masks which helped to protect us from the dust. Some of the jeep drivers in other vehicles seemed a little wilder than ours did. We visited a small museum of a home that was impacted by the volcano. Our second stop was at Alien Rock...that part was a little lame. Unfortunately, our jeep broke down at the second stop so we had to wait there for a bit before another jeep came to "save" us. Our third stop was to see the bunker that helped to protect people when the volcano erupted. The ride, the museum, and the bunker were the most interesting. While we're glad we did the trip, our experience was probably clouded by our waiting for over an hour (hot hot day) to be rescued. There are facilities and touristy stalls at Alien Rock and the bunker.

Me and my friend we went with a tour up the vulcano. We started with hiking at 1 in the morning to catch the sunrise. One of the most beautiful things i ever seen. The hike up there was tough, but all different kind of people did it. I will recomend that you're an active or young person if you're gonna do this hike. Around 3.5 hours up.
Worth it!
Bring warm clothes. It is cold at the top
