“NICE HOTEL, BEST PRICE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2010

i've visited YK at 30 DEC 10. for spending the new year. We've not planned it... so at 30DEC my friend booked this hotel from internet.. We don't know the hotel yet.. but because of the time is running out... and the only room available only saphir then we booked it.

ROOMS: FAMILY ROOM for about IDR400.000 (a night)

Breakfast: 4 (1 to 5)
Room : 4 (1 to 5)
Location : 3 (1 to 5)
PRICE : 5 (1 to 5)

the only negative think i found on this hotel is: EXTERIOR HOTEL very old fashioned. (im stayed on the old room. The hotel has 2 kind of room.. 1st the old one.. 2nd the renovated one)

also the hotel is connected with SAPHIR MALL and has shuttle bus to MALIOBORO

I think the other reviews have said it all. I just want to add that the room was very old and it need a major renovations (there are many holes full of termites at the ceiling in my room).

We arrived at Yogya airport at 8.30pm on New Year's Day with no accommodation booked. Hotel Saphir was the only one in our price band available, but it turned out to be just fine for our two night stay. Check in took a long time - about 45 mins - but the hotel was crowded with local holiday makers as, surprisingly, the Christmas/New Year period is a big deal in Indonesia. Our rooms were in the relatively new Premier Wing and were a good size with aircon, decent shower and comfortable bed. The TV was a little small for the room - most now have flat screens - but the really odd thing was the lack of a window to the outside world, so no natural light. There was glazing covered by wooden blinds, but this looked out onto the internal corridor we had just walked along. However, it did mean that we weren't disturbed by the mosque that some people have mentioned. This wing of the hotel had its own restaurant for breakfast and there was a good choice of western and indonesian food - all included in our very reasonable rate. The concierge was extremely helpful, advising on trains and booking cars for the next stage of our trip. This is a big hotel, and we were the only Westerners staying. They staff looked after us well, and it was interesting to see Indonesian families enjoying their holiday.

Stayed here before back in 2007 which was not satifactory as compare to my last visit in Sept. I see a lot of changes especially now that they have a new section call the premier floor with comtemporary set up. My room was facing the airport and it was a good view of the village and a part of the town buildings.

The bathtub was designed in such a way that water keeps getting onto the floor and I always have to asked for an extra towel so as to put onto the floor. I prefer the old classic room where there were more funitures like the one I stayed in 2007 with a pool view.

The overall service was excellent , The staff are all wonderful and friendly and the food was awesome with the traditional javanese music played at the lobby during the muslim celebration...cannot extol the virtues of this new and improved hotel enough.
