The institute allowed visitors a hands-on experience of the different printing methods - so cool! #STPIOpenHouse2016 #printersjam

Although I've lived in the area for more than 6 years, today was my first visit to STPI. It's a small gallery but is well structured with some interesting, if slightly unusual, exhibits. Photos of the current exhibition attached here. Worth a look when you're in the area.

Go for their 1 hour free guided tours on most Saturdays 2.30pm. Led by volunteers from the Friends of the museum, you get access to their workshop downstairs and understand the print making process and techniques that are used to make the pieces of art in the main gallery.
STPI is people-friendly, in that it gives the public free access to international art scene from renown artists in their arts residency programme. They also have free artists talk throughout the year, so sign up for their newsletter to be in the loop.
Be sure to join their open house where you get to try different printing techniques like silkscreening, etching, relief printing. It brings out the child-likeness in you while engaging in the activity.
They also conduct workshops throughout the year for those keen to learn a new skill like silk screen, aquatint, paper pulp making etc.

STPI is located at Robertson Quay, along the upper parts of Singapore river. It is an integrated print arts center that makes it own paper, and does range of printing from woodcut, metal etching, limestone block, silkscreen etc. The museum is a quiet place partially illuminated by sunlight.

I had a chance to visit their annual open house last weekend and had a great time in the behind the scene workshop (about 4 times the museum size) to gain an first hand + hands on experience in making the various types of print.

The photos are taken from the open house. Pity it happens only once a year.

The exhibition I saw yesterday was lovely. But i hoped for a little more.
Just one artist showcased in a marvellous gallery. So if the artist is dud you have nowhere to go.
Didn't see a soul.
