I went to SG to visit my bestie and to celebrate my 34th birthday, so I stayed in this hotel alone. What caught my attention was the competitive price, it's considered new and the theme of the hotel is something I love. I wasn't disappointed in that sense.
The room itself isn't that small as mentioned by some other travelers, there are still plenty of space to move around..try a hotel room in HK or Japan then you'd understand me. What bothered me quite a lot was that there are plenty of wall space for mirrors, yet there wasn't any in the room, except for a small pathetic one in the bathroom. Secondly, there isn't any wall hooks in the entire room AND bathroom. There was only a small hanging open clothes hanger in the room and a small tower rod in the bathroom. No vanity shelf, no hooks. And the basin is extremely small, I couldn't even place my toiletries on the sink itself since I have nowhere to place everything. Glad that my toiletries bag was the type that you could hang, so that helped eventhough it was troublesome (using and putting everything back into the bag everytime!). It's extremely frustrating since I have a lot of skincare stuffs, my toiletries, and my make up bag (typical of a woman). I couldn't do my make up in the room since there was no mirror. Bad!

Secondly, the housekeeping staffs were very noisy as early as 7am when they start doing their cleaning rounds all around the building. Room walls are thin. Doors are constantly banging and slamming around early in the morning. Even the flooring is thin as I heard footsteps above me a few times. Please educate your housekeeping staffs..the slamming really irked me lots. Annoying.
Thirdly, the towels aren't really clean as mentioned by a traveler's review on Booking.com. It's true. There are some brown spots on the towels in my room. Although I must say the bedding, pillows and mattress is of good quality. I love the pillows..fluffy and soft.
The cleanliness of the room isn't top notch. When I first checked in, the bathroom has stains on the walls, the corners of the bathroom weren't clean and the floor of the room was quite "sandy". They have a minibar, which is good. There is also hairdryer and a flat screen tv attached on the wall. Channels are good enough for me. Bathroom has rain shower, which is always a good thing. They also provide 2 bottles of drinking water free daily. No complains about that.
I do want to mention something..on the day I was to check out, I was running a little late and was just casually asking the front desk staff (a girl) what is the latest time that I would be allowed check out. As from my experience as a previous hotelier and an avid traveler, MOST of the hotels would be kind enough to spare 15-30mins of leeway for the guest. She coldly replied 12 noon. And when my friend asked her if we could extend even for 15 - 30 mins, she just blatantly replied yes, with SGD15 chargeable. I thought that isn't a proper way to respond to a guest. Even if the occupancy rate is extremely high and there is no way the front desk could do a complimentary extension check out for the guest, she could politely explain and be friendly about it. It was a total turn off. Eventhough I truly liked the hotel theme, due to this front desk staff's attitude, I wouldn't want to return anymore. It's plain unprofessional. Well I admit the slamming of doors early in the morning by their housekeeping staffs added on to my turn off list too..and the lack of mirror and the way too basic bathroom as well.
I seldom review a hotel negatively, I give and take most of the time especially considering the rate that I'm paying, the expectations aren't that high. But this hotel is like a love and hate thing for me. Absolutely love their theme and design but loathe their poorly trained staffs and lack of guests' consideration when setting up the rooms.
Try it and you'll know what I mean :)More
