Good Location very comfortable rooms. The Gohan sushi restaurant is in the hotel and open all afternoon to evening. Most local restaurants don't open until 8:00PM. Within walking distance to the fish market and my favorite local Parrilla Thor.

Room Tip: Get a high too on the river

Only stayed overnight , breakfast poor for a five star with only machine coffee. Didn’t visit casino as it’s not our thing. If they give you rooms on the 10th floor ask to be moved as it’s noisy and directly under the sky bar .

Spent 2 nights here and the interior and rooms were immaculate. Restaurant food was delicious (for both breakfast and dinner) and the pool facilities were amazing (on 10th floor so beautiful view). However, our stay was completely disrupted due to an airconditioning glitch and the utter incompetence of the front desk receptionists at the time of the issue. We had previous asked for our air-con to be checked as room was boiling and it seemed to be pumping hot air. Receptionist organised for someone to check it out while we were out (at 3pm) and we did not get back til 11pm. Someone had obviously been to the room at curtains were closed etc, but still the room was boiling. Rang reception, who told us another technician would be up momentarily to have a look at it. After 1hr and half, and 3 more phone calls, we eventually had someone come check it out. At this stage was 1am and took another half hr for reception to organise a room change. The guy who came up had just came on and was really lovely, gave us choice of rooms and small bottle of brut to apologise.

Unfortunately, the whole experience ruined our stay at the hotel and all due to the utter lack of care showed by the front desk. I spoke with the manager the day after who was very apologetic, and said she would sort out the matter. Also mentioned to her that no one on the desk spoke any English as my partner is from Europe with limited Spanish, and felt if she had been visiting on her own then she would have got no help.

Overall, very mixed feelings about this hotel as everything else was wonderful, but don’t expect much help if something goes wrong based on our experience!

On our two week trip to Chile, the only hotel which I worried about was the Hotel Dreams in Valdivia. Some TripAdvisor reviewers left me thinking it might be a "tired" hotel, especially with a casino on the first floor. My fears were not warranted. Hotel Dreams is an ideal hotel and deserves five stars. Here is why: 1) Location - right on the river with twelve stories of fantastic views. Make sure you request a river view room. Helped by floor to ceiling windows in guest rooms. Stunning! You are very close to the market place (highly recommended), boats for trips on the river, and a bridge to parks and the university. 2) Service - all the service personnel were professional, eager to help, and there was always at least one bi-lingual staff member available. 3) Room - We had a spacious (but standard) 5th floor room facing the river. Bed was king sized and very comfortable with nice linens, there was a desk, good lighting and plenty of electrical plugs, ample storage for clothes, a wonderful bathroom with separate glassed-in shower and tub, big sink, even separate, quality toiletries for men and women. The room even came with wine glasses for use. 4) Breakfast - The breakfast was ample and good, quite an assortment of fruit, bakery goods and eggs and the top floor (12th) location was great. We didn't want to leave. A side note - I would not recommend the sushi restaurant in the hotel; nice view but only average food. 5) Parking - the ample parking is located conveniently under the hotel in well-lite space and it's free to hotel guests. 6) Hotel Dreams is reasonably priced, at least on our visit. Highly recommended. Hope this helps!

Room Tip: Ask for a river view room. Also some of the river rooms have balconies.
