When I called to make a reservation, the phone was answered by Rakesh, the owner. We have a special vegetarian diet (pure veg) and he was very happy to organise this for us and made us feel very welcome.
When we arrived Rakesh greated us personally and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved watching the amazing chef cook through a special glass wall. It is a beautiful restaurant.
The food was perfect, with many choices available. Great for vegetarians.
It was my birthday, and although it was more expensive than we would usually spend, it was a lovely night. (With my husband and two teenage boys.)

In summary great restaurant both for romantic dinner or for a business meeting

A delightful place, simply put. From the moment you arrive you will feel a sense of familiarity and comfort rarely seen in your average restaurant. Each and every meal is prepared with top quality ingredients. The host, Rakesh, is a friendly and charismatic person who will ensure you have a great time. Most definitely recommendable for any occasion but specially for meetings with family, friends and/or lovers.

In order to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary we decided to explore the Santiago Indian cuisine, remembering the good old times when we had an excellent Indian restaurant just around the corner in down town Munich, Germany.

Having got used to the lack of service in Santiago restaurants the attention at the "Jewel of India" was indeed a ver positive surprise. The fact that Rakesh, the owner welcomed every guest personally and guided them to the table is something we have not had the pleasure to experience in Chile. The overall attention was also swift and spotless. Unusual for Santiago we had monsoon like rain that evening reminded me of the several visits to India and therefore fitted well to the general atmosphere.
For the same of a fair comparison we chose the "usual suspects" of the Indian cuisine: somosas as starters, Chicken Masala and Mutton Korma as main courses and Gulab as desert. The only exception to the paramount menu was Pisco Sour as aperitif in order to add some local flavor the otherwise South Asian environment.
To say it upfront: the food was very good, but I recommend to order "very spicy" if you are a friend of genuine Indian food, as I had the impression, that both the Chicken Masala and the Mutton Korma had already been adapted to Chilean Taste buds. Especially the Mutton Korma would have required some more coconut milk. Another recommendation: order plain rice, as the saffron rice is considerably more expensive and did not really meet our expectations when comparing value to cost.
The Gulab was well balanced between sweetness and coconut flavour.
Although spending nearly USD 100 for two menues with aperitif, shared starters, main courses with rice and Nan bread and shared desert can not be considered as cheap, the amount is reasonable, taking into account, that the ingredients are not easy to procure in Chile.
All in all, it has been a very positive dining experience and can indeed be recommended for special occasions
