Description: Ruca Bar will close for vacation for Christmas from 24 of December until 2 of January inclusive. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. Ruca Bar is a gourmet tapa's bar located in the heart of the up and coming Barrio Italia, with a distinct atmosphere. Focusing on elaborating local produce to deliver exquisite tapas, Ruca Bar merges both gourmet food with sophisticated drinks at a very affordable price, without ignoring the importance of excellent service. Just like its name indicates, our clients always feel at home.

We loved this bar. We went for cocktails and would definitely return for food, the tapas looked and sounded great. Lovely array of gin cocktails, both of our choices were very good. Nice spot with outdoor seating, great decor inside and out.

We walked over to the Ruca Bar from our hotel and enjoyed two Pisco Sours (Chilean style), two Pisco Sours (Peruvian), pulpo on the rocks (grilled octopus with black ink potatoes), tostas de Berenjena (eggplant), and sliders made of wagyu beef. The drinks and tapas style eating were quite good. We really enjoyed our time there.

Ruca bar is a really nice venue, both outside (cute candlelit tables in Santiago's delicious summer) and inside (high table and stools, music, interesting wall paintings, the kitchen visible behind a glass panel towards the far end of the bar) and it definitely got more animated as the evening progressed.

The food was good - not wow - but very decent: mini burgers and fried chicken were our favorites, we didn't care much for the pork rucadillas. And the strawberries in the Eton mess were canned, not fresh, which deprived it of that unique tastefulness and refreshing factor.

We didn't try the gin drinks but the Sauvignon blanc by the glass was all right, although not served cold enough. I also had a customized tinto de verano with white wine (the option was not on the menu), which was ok but which they insisted on charging me at more than double the price of the tinto de verano with red wine... Justifiable maybe but not very commercial in terms of customer service.

Speaking of service, it could have been a lot nicer: since the outside tables were all full (and our request to be switched to a table there later on was repeatedly ignored), we picked a high table inside which was a 4 seater (as were 95% of tables there). We were promptly asked to move to a smaller table (by the entrance door) which consisted of a big wine barrel with a glass top, and turned out to be super uncomfortable to sit at, especially for 2 relatively tall people. We asked if we couldn't stay at our original table (the venue was 15% full at best and there were plenty of free tables) but were told we then had to sit at a large shared table at the back (and facing the AC vent, my biggest pet peeve)... Very unnecessary and we didn't like the back room as much. All the more annoying since as time passed we realized other couples were siting at 4 seater tables and there had been zero need to move us, as the place never filled up completely.

Furthermore, after our food came, the waiter seemed super keen on cleaning up our plates and glasses... When there was clearly some food and drinks left! We felt a bit pushed out although for no good reason... Again, the place was not full.

Overall a nice evening, but truly dampened by the curt service.

We came here twice in two days we loved the place so much and all we do whence travel is eat and drink. Fantastic team working there, incredible tapas particularly the mini burgers and chicken. Drinks were top notch and the ambience and setting perfect. Could not find a single fault, just go.

Very popular and friendly bar. Great tapas, fabulous gin cocktails and wonderful wine. It gets very busy so arrive early to get a seat inside. Lots of outside space which fills up even when it's still chilly. Loved it here!
