This B&B is reasonably priced and has clean rooms, many with a view from this house on one of the many hills in Valparaiso, Cerro Alegre. Two front desk staffers, Piero and Rene, were kind and accommodative in all respects. Breakfast was good and included scrambled eggs if desired. As an added bonus, there is a small rooftop perch from which all of Valparaiso is open before you.

Room Tip: There is no A/C. If in the summertime, get a room on the east side, as the westward facing rooms can get a bit warm.

We loved this hotel.
It is well situated in a neighbourhood which I’d full of character.
Our room was light and spacious and immaculate.
Hector and Gabriel man the front desk and nothing is too much trouble.
If you like small hotels with personality - you will be happy here

My wife and I, along with another couple, stay here during our recent trip to Chile. This hotel has a number of great characteristics, with the most important being large, comfortable rooms that come with a very good breakfast. Being in the heart of the bohemian Cerro Alegre doesn't hurt either. Where else can one have breakfast and view the owner's collection of antique radios, then easily walk to small unique shops and see street murals everywhere? The hotel is named after the English painter Thomas Somerscales, who began to paint while in Chile. Of course, location is worthless with a first-class staff and this hotel has that without question. They were helpful and friendly without being stuffy.

Room Tip: There is no elevator. Based on the two rooms we had, I doubt if there is a bad room in the place.

The location and setting are ideal for exploring Valpariso. We found the staff welcoming and very helpful. We can recommend the room on the top floor which has a balcony with an amazing view of the bay. The room was very comfortable. The breakfasts were good however the offer was a little limited. Apart from the breakfast the hotel was excellent.

Room Tip: Room 8 has a balcony with a great view of the bay

Spent 3 nights here this week, it is in a great location. Easy to walk anywhere from and close to a wide range of shops and restaurants. I was in room 2 which had a beautiful view of some of the ocean and across the city. There is also this rooftop sitting/balcony area where you get an incredibly stunning and beautiful view across Valparaiso. Highly recommended!
