The hotel is located on the hill of Valparaiso which means you get great views across into the harbour. Initially the hotel is very hard to find as if you are using the streets to get to the hotel, you will make more turns in the windy backstreets of Valpa than a F1 driver. However, there is a historic old lift that takes you from the main street of Valparaiso up to basically right near the front entrance of the hotel. So once you know this, it's a lot easier to find the hotel.
Breakfast was included in our room package, however it's nothing too flash. Some fruit, yoghurt, juice and toast.
The room we had, had a lovely little balcony that opened up with views of the harbour. Simply spectacular! We were warned when we checked in that the hotel water takes a bit of time in the morning which was true. So best to start the shower, get your clothes ready and then return to the shower 5 mins later to start your shower. The bathrooms are very small and I would not recommend it if you are elderly or a large person as you need to step into and out of the shower and move around nimbly in the small space.
There is a bit of noise in the hotel which really cannot be the fault of the hotel. As the floorboards are wooden, you do hear...The hotel is located on the hill of Valparaiso which means you get great views across into the harbour. There is a bit of noise in the hotel which really cannot be the fault of the hotel. As the floorboards are wooden, you do hear people walking around upstairs at the start of the morning. Not really loud but I could hear it. And if you leave your doors balcony doors open at night, you will hear the party atmosphere of downtown Valpariso especially during summer which is when it is at it's peak. However you are in a resort town, so you cannot expect too much peace ad quiet.
Overall the hotel was good, a tad on the expensive side for Valpariso. The staff have limited English skills, although are very helpful and accommodating. Rooms have excellent views.More
