Lovely boutique hotel situated in the old town area of Quito. Helpful staff, organized around a delightful courtyard, and rooms which were comfortable and quiet giving out on the back. Perhaps rooms in the front would be noisy.

La Casona de la Ronda was the perfect start to an amazing holiday. We were both very tired after a long journey from London but the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

We stayed for 3 nights including Friday and Saturday when La Ronda really does come alive and is very noisy. However our room was quiet as we were at the back of the hotel, and we had no problems sleeping. The restaurant is small but the food is good (breakfast is excellent) and the staff are very attentive. We also enjoyed the complementary coffee/tea from 4-6pm.

It’s walking distance to the Plaza Grande and the historic Old Town so an ideal place if you’re visiting Quito.

I stayed with my daughter for one nought prior to travelling to Mashpi. It is really old town and a great location to access the historic centre of Quito. On the downside it takes a while to get there through the narrow streets of this area. The hotel is a short walk from the nearest accessible road (by car) so be prepared to haul your luggage a few meters. That said it is well worth the effort as internally the Hôtel offers elegant surroundings and very caring staff. The room was ok and reflected the historic buildings style, plumbing was a little noisy! All in all a great stepping off point to enjoy Quito

We stayed for 2 nights on our way to the Galapagos, and we were very glad we did. We always find it interesting staying in the old part of a town, and Quito was no exception. It was lovely to walk around the general area, lots of atmosphere and activity. We were there on Friday and Saturday, so La Ronda Street was noisy, but it wasn't an issue in our room. Walking back off the street into the beautiful hotel courtyard, was just lovely. We enjoyed a drink in the very comfortable lounge area, and breakfast both days was excellent. Our room was huge, and opened onto a small internal courtyard with beautiful murals. There is a spiral starircase up to a quiet reading area that has spectacular views. As some people have mentioned, there is no lift, but staff are always available to help with bags etc. The security in the hotel was excellent, and the staff overall very helpful. we were just sorry we didn't have a longer stay.

My husband and I spent 3 nights in this lovely, small and personal hotel in a most interesting part of old Quito. The street itself, La Ronda, is an eclectic mix of artisan studios, restaurants, bars, street entertainers and action that really gets going in the evening. Our window was right on the street and could have been noisy - however the hotel has provided extra insulation and consequently it was very quiet, despite all the outside action.

The hotel is a beautifully restored old mansion with comfortable public spaces to sit, meet fellow travelers, enjoy afternoon tea/coffee or an evening drink. The staff were all amazing! My husband was quite sick and everyone was most helpful, from the kind woman at the front desk who arranged for a doctor to visit, to the restaurant and housekeeping staff. No request was too small and everyone was responsive and genuinely concerned for our well-being.

Our room had the biggest bed I've even slept in - could have been fine for a family of 4! Everything was clean and attractive. Not only was the room very sound-proofed from the street, but the heavy wooden shutters kept out every speck of light so the room stayed dark until you opened them. We also had a beautiful view of the winged Virgin Mary guarding the city from above.

This is also one of the few hotels that actually don't change your towels unless you leave them on the floor, which we appreciated. Too many hotels may advertise a towel conservation policy but have it ignored by housekeeping.

All in all, this was more like staying in a beautiful private home with loyal and caring staff than a hotel. One thing though - climbing stairs is the only option as there is no elevator and all the rooms are at least 1 level up. Also car traffic is very limited in the streets around the hotel so taxis leave you a short walk away - therefore anyone with difficulty walking will find this hotel less convenient. Otherwise there is nothing better than exploring the beautiful streets and squares of old Quito, and returning to this lovely, welcoming hotel.
