Showed up on Saturday at 10pm, we were hungry and happy to be at the only place that sells pho in quito. As soon as we showed up they said the kitchen was closed, I complained and then they acted like they were doing us a favor of serving us. We did not feel welcomed, when the drinks showed up the glass of wine was totally under poured and they said that it was the way they served wine... the food was descent but in general we did not feel welcomed and I believe it is because the owners are never there... I just do not understand why you would have restaurant and not do the best to make people feel comfortable... don't think I will ever go back.

Thank Juan A

I came here for dinner during the week. The place was busy but we were able to get a table. Our table had the poke bowl, the bahn mi, and pad thai. I'm usually not a fan of pad thai but I really enjoyed this one. The menu has a lot of variety and they have a great craft beer list. We enjoyed all our dishes were were reasonably sized. The atmosphere is great but still casual and draws a young local crowd.

First of all this is NOT really a Vietnamese restaurant as the menu is peppered with trans Asian dishes - Korean, Thai, Chinese with even a bit of Indian thrown in - (chicken ticka massala as one of the main courses -haha!

We're here for 2 months and this was our first 'foreign' meal in Quito as we have been eating the local food which is varied, delicious and cheap. (a good lunch 2 or 3 course meal will set you back US$4-5.) just about anywhere in Quito.

Given that the average main course dishes are $10 to £15 in this restaurant you expect something decent as this food cost as much as you would pay in London. which unfortunately has vastly better food and far more substantial portions. I've also traveled throughout Vietnam so.......quite disappointing, specially the Pho (That's not Pho!) The broth was DARK!

We also came in at 2.10 pm and left at 3:30pm it took nearly an hour to get served the starters and it wasn't even peak time.

Hi Carlos, thank u for your review. We are happy to hear that u liked the ambiance and found our food tasty. We would like to say that we are not really striving to be an authenthic vietnamese restaurant. The aim in Banh Mi is to get inspired by south east asian flavors and create tasty and satisfying food, in no way we strive nor promote to be an authenthic vietnamese restaurant. As you clearly put it we have korean, indian and thai inspired recipes in the menu. Hope that by explaining this u could visit us again and instead of trying to prove if the restaurant is authenthic or not, just enjoy the food :) that is our biggest goal: People having fun and enjoying food. We are sorry if the food was slow out of the kitchen. Thanks again for the visit and review :) We hope u have fun in Ecuador.

i went with two collegues, they forgot to prepare my meal.
you would, no big deal, ill take the take-away and im saved for the day.
however, all they said was sorry.... no refund, nothing!
then i opened up the take-away... and it seemed to be the wrong plate (pork instead of scrimp). omg... i wanna murder these people now....!!!!!

Second time around and still great. I’m in love with the food and atmosphere. You NEED to try the kimchi fries, tuna and belly pork baos. There’s always a surprising taste to everything you try. This time we ordered the fish tacos. YUMMY
