It's like boutique hotel, located in old hacienda, like mirador.
You can enjoy almost familiar atmosphere,

Very nice and warm design. There is internal, roof-covered courtyard with old fireplace where you can eat breakfast or just play cards or drink with the friends in the evening.

In our room there was several old and original music instruments that really created warm and romantic climate.

Staff was very kind to release us from paying for unused night, even if it was our fault as we arrived one day late. They also help with carrying our heavy suitcases to the room, that if you take into account altitude difference (one entry to the hotel is situated several meters higher than other, as Cusco is located in mountain 3300 m above sea level).

Additional benefits of the hotel: 24 h free access to a few computers, free fresh coca tea and other drink that help you to survive in high altitude and move up and down stairs and hills that are immanent part of mountains envinronment. .

Hotel is really close to central Plaza Del Arms, with several good restaurants and main Cathedral and other historical place.

In short: very good boutique and charming hotel, worth to see and spend at least a night or two.
Internal design, location and warm atmosthere deserve for 5 stars.

Room Tip: Some rooms have windows on internal, closed countryyard. Few rooms close to reception have view on...

Our room was beautiful and clean. We stayed in the suite at the top of the building. Unfortunately the music at the disco across the street goes til 5am. If you can sleep with the all night beat or if you don’t go to bed until 5am this is the place for you! There are rooms at the back of the hotel that could be more quiet . The breakfast was amazing and they had a fire in the courtyard fire place on brisk mornings.

We were forced to book the Terra Viva last minute because we couldn't get a room at the Sonesta upon our return from Machu Picchu.

While the staff were friendly, we weren't at all pleased with the room assigned us (same level as the lobby), which was away from the little court yard that is advertised. I forget the room number, but it appears to have been some utility shed converted into a room rather than being part of the colonial style building proper. The fact that it was at the same level as the Calle de Suecia (where there are night clubs just steps away) ensured that we heard every vibration and learned the lyrics through the night. Because this was not a proper room in the actual building, it was also much cooler.

It is close to the Plaza de Armas square, but it is also very inaccessible to cars, so make sure you're not hauling heavy luggage because you will have to negotiate some stairs and sloped cobblestone streets on foot.

Breakfast was just average in breadth and quality, but it was nice that they offered 2 beers and some soft drinks inside the room cooler free of charge.

We feel we overpaid and could have found similar accommodation in a hostel.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the rooms on the lobby level.

I loved EVERYTHING about this hotel - especially the exceptionally helpful & friendly staff. Excellent location close to Plaza de Armas. Free airport shuttle. They arranged a very cheap taxi transfer from Poroy train station. I was sick with a stomach bug, and the staff arranged transport to the doctor for me (Victor, one of the porters, fawned over me, offering water & blankets while I waited for the driver). Our first night at the hotel, Victor also went out at 11pm and bought extra water for us (2 half-liter bottles come free with the room, but we wanted more and Victor happily helped us because we were exhausted from traveling).

Our rooms were AMAZING. We asked for rooms facing the courtyard which the staff happily reserved for us. Our rooms had windows with wooden shutters so they were dark and quiet at night. Comfortable bed & pillows. Excellent bathtub. The website pictures don't do the rooms justice (large rooms with gorgeous antique-looking furniture).

The staff even surprised me with a piece of birthday cake for my birthday!! My emails were always answered thoroughly and promptly. Very nice buffet breakfast with an excellent variety of hot and cold food which can be eaten in front of the fireplace in the courtyard. Coco leaf tea & coffee available 24/7. Really nicely priced for the location and amenities. I cannot say enough about how amazing this hotel is.

Thank you to the Tierra Viva Cusco Plaza staff for making our stay exceptional. :)

Room Tip: Get a courtyard room - very quiet & dark at night

We stayed at Tierra Viva Cusco Plaza twice: before our trip up to Machu Picchu again on the return. It's very close to the Cusco main plaza with the shops and restaurants. Our rooms were very nice and the staff was so friendly and helpful. They stored our luggage while we were at Machu Picchu and then had it ready in our room on the return. Breakfast was nice although not big selections. Although the nearby teen night club was quite loud, the noise was not a problem in our rooms (303 and 204). Since the street is closed to cars, we were dropped off down by the plaza to trudge uphill to the hotel. Drop-off at the top of the street would have been easier with a downhill walk to the hotel. Wifi worked quite well and there was complimentary water, soda and beer in the rooms.
