Staying at the Garden House was the best decision we made while in Cusco. Doris, Ceci and Ceci's son did everything imaginable to help us enjoy our trip. They arranged for us to get picked up at the airport and organized fantastic and affordable private drivers to take us to see the Sacred Valley. After our stay, we were going to Machu Pichu and then rushing back to go to Arequipa and they arranged for us to leave our things at the hotel, have them picked up by a taxi driver who then picked us up at the train station and drove us directly to the bus. Additionally, you don't plan to get sick on vacation, but with the altitude and different foods, it happens relatively often when traveling around Peru. On our first day, we had some mild altitude sickness and Ceci wheeled in oxygen tanks to our rooms and brought muna tea to our bedside. Later in the trip, we had some pretty bad gastroenteritis (the day before our Machu Pichu trip), and they had a great doctor at bedside within literally 5 minutes, and then I was taken away to a top notch clinic for rehydration. Doris and Cece called to check in, help arrange transportation, and even wrote us a Get Well postcard. I was able to enjoy Machu Pichu and even hike Machu Pichu mountain the next day and owe it all to the fast and high quality medical care Doris and Cece arranged. Additionally, the setting is absolutely stunning and feels completely out of the city with all the beautiful flowers and gardens. It does require a 10-15 minute taxi ride to get into the center of the city, but especially given our frequent trips to the Sacred Valley during our stay, it was a great location and great place. Breakfast was delicious and homemade, the rooms were beautiful, and wifi worked great. Highly recommended!

Simply put, Doris and Ceci provided us with the best service we've ever gotten from any hotel we've ever been. They made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond in helping us to navigate the city, its sights, and its cuisine. They even arranged (without our even asking!) to have our luggage stored and transported to our next hotel while we were away at Machu Picchu for two days. Just top-notch service.

The rooms were spacious and pristine, and the grounds are beautiful. The WiFi was the first reliable internet connection we encountered in Peru. The complimentary breakfast was homemade and wonderful, and the dining area is restful and filled with interesting artwork and furniture. The hotel is located about 10-15 minutes from the downtown by taxi, which is a very easy journey. If there was one downside to our stay it was that the shower is due for an update, but honestly, everything else was so wonderful that we didn't mind it at all.

Staying at the Garden House was a highlight of our trip. Highly, highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay at the Garden House so much on our first visit to Peru in 2012 that we vowed to return before too long.
When we came back in September 2015 it was worth the 6000 mile trip from the UK for the lovely welcome from Ceci and Doris – we were treated just like old friends. They are the most hospitable and gracious of hosts and the Garden House is a peaceful oasis on the outskirts of Cusco, well placed for exploration. A 20 minute ride takes you to Huacarpay Lake – well worth a morning visit for the scenery and the large variety of birds. The sights of old Cusco are a similar distance in the other direction.
The house is beautifully furnished and the rooms very comfortable and well appointed.
The garden itself is a lovely place to explore (gently – watch the altitude and drink plenty of the thoughtfully provided coca tea!). You can see a good variety of birds right here, and colourful butterflies enjoying the flowers.
If you fancy a light lunch, Doris or Ceci will make you a very tasty cheese, tomato and avocado sandwich to eat in the pretty courtyard if it’s sunny. In the evening, food can be brought in to order from a variety of local restaurants and enjoyed in the dining room.
The breakfasts are superb – the best fresh fruit salad we’ve ever had, local cereal, bread, homemade jam, eggs – everything you could want.
Lastly, we have worn the courtesy Garden House slippers round the world since our first visit, and now have new pairs to see us through the next few years…..until our next visit!
Thank you Doris and Ceci for letting us share your lovely home again – I would award you and the Garden House 6 stars if I could!

Originally picked this place strictly because of the name, arrived and stayed at The Green House, so a stay at The Garden House seemed appropriate to end the trip, and what a great choice! Cusco is a very loud city, the guest house is outside of the historical center and therefore an oasis in a very hectic place. The outside may not look like much, but once you enter through the gates, it is a lovely hacienda with flowers, gardens and fully appointed rooms and most importantly no noise, no honking cars, no barking dogs or screening roosters...peace and lovely darkness to facilitate sleep.
We are a mother/daughter traveling duo and Cece organized drivers for us when we needed it and even helped to feed us when we couldn't manage going out again after a busy day of sight seeing. The drive to the historical center and other points of interest are fairly short, and not in any way expensive or unreasonable. Although we speak Spanish, we had Ceci organize drivers for us to avoid any taxi driver mellow drama which can happen in any populated tourist town.
For us (We are South American) is was like staying with family...comfortable, safe and secure. Our flight departed an an unholy hour in the morning, and Cece organized everything for us. I was very pleased with everything from the price to the experience.

I cannot thank Cece and Doris enough for their kindness and warmth and for sharing their beautiful home with us. My husband and I came off the Inca Trail bug bitten and tired and this was the perfect remedy.

These two women are completely genuine. It's so rare to feel so welcomed in this fast paced world. Within a few minutes they felt like family.

The Spanish style villa is like an oasis. Beautiful gardens, a fantastic breakfast, lovely furnishings, a well appointed room and comfy bed. Yes, this is 15-20 minutes from the square but cabs are very inexpensive and the bonus is you can sleep peacefully. This is a fantastic value too. Tip, book directly for the best rates.

If there were 6 stars I'd give it a 6.
