On our tour of Peru we first landed in Lima. Hearing of its ever developing reputation for food culture we opted to try one of its high end restaurants...we opted for Maido. Booking was needed a few months in advance. And for the weekend we required, we could only get a seat at the sushi counter for lunch (which actually wasnt a problem, it was a little more informal, and great to see the sushi being prepared, and to have a conversation and laugh with the chef's).
We chose the full tasting menu with drinks pairing. Everything about the experience was amazing, from the initial “Maido” greeting when we walked in, the service of all those that tended to us, and to the exceptional taste and details of the meal. We enjoyed every course and an amazing pisco sour to finish off. It is expensive for Peru, but that is to be expected at a restaurant with this level of food and service.
