“Extraordinary hosts and great cottage”

We are a family of four with two teenage girls who stayed at Master Recoleta cottage in the Sacred Valley for three days before travelling to Macchu Pichu. The cottage itself is large and well appointed, with excellent wifi an as added bonus. Our daughters very much appreciated each having their own room. One of nicest features of the cottage is the private garden behind it, full of fruit trees, flowers and bird life. If you don't want to cook, the cottage is right next to the monastery, which has been converted into a hotel with a restaurant on site, and there are also a large number of restaurants in the vicinity that can be reached by car. There is also a small shop very nearby where basics such as fresh bread, water, eggs and fruit can be bought. If you intend to do more serious cooking you would likely want to make arrangements to visit a market soon after your arrival.

Without doubt, though, the attentive and quite extraordinarily helpful hosts, Dew and Juan, are the best thing about this property. We had made the right choice by accepting advice to stay in the Sacred Valley, rather than Cusco, for a few days before going to Macchu Pichu, since one of our party was affected by the altitude on arrival. Dew and Juan thoroughly looked after us - providing coca and muna teas and accompanying us to a very good nearby clinic specializing in altitude sickness. They also provided us with friendly and helpful drivers who picked us up from the airport in Cusco on arrival and who were available throughout our stay to take us to nearby restaurants and to the various remarkable archaeological sites in the valley. The end result was that we were able to see all the sites we wanted to visit in the Valley as well as acclimatize to the altitude so that we were ready for our visit to Macchu Picchu.

“Wonderful hosts and large place to spread out”

We were greeted by Dew and Juan, both of whom speak English, upon arrival. The compound consists of 7 cottages (which they cal condominiums). Our Cottage was about 2,000 square feet, if I had to guess. The backyard is large and has flower and fruiting trees. The views of the mountain and the monastery next door are amazing. We liked how quiet it was at night and how hot the shower water was. Also the internet is unbelievably fast which allowed us to catch up on uploading pictures and videos to our web storage company. If you want to facetime, skype etc. this is an awesome connection for that. The hosts are truly sweet people and went out of their way to make sure we were OK. Since they speak English if you need something specific like a medication or similar they can help make sure you are getting the correct stuff. There was a wind storm prior to us arriving and it affected the satellite TV antennae. The hosts went out of their way to loan us their own DVDs so we could be entertained. HOW COOL IS THAT? I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone with family. Since we stayed in the single story unit it could also accommodate elderly people who would find going up stairs difficult. We have been traveling through Central and South America now for the last 9 months and this place is in the top 3 rentals. Urubamba is smack in the middle of the Sacred Valley so seeing the sites is easy from this location. We drove our own car but we also walked around the neighborhood for groceries etc. And finally there is an elegant hotel right next door if you want to pamper yourself for a night or two while you are here.
