The hotel is very, very tired but the location, lovely terrace looking over the sea and the really nice beach make up for a lot of the hotels failings.

The first impression of the hotel, even before arrival was bad..... just booking a room at the hotel is a nightmare... no web site... numerous emails back and forth (many going unanswered) and eventually having to make a money transfer to pay a deposit before arrival.... it was like going back in time to the 1950s or 1960s !! A very odd experience indeed.

On arrival the room smelt damp... we had a twin room, one of the bases of the bed was broken and stuffed full of old towels !! We could not be bothered mentioning it as, based on the reception staff, it would never get fixed before we left 6 days later. That said they kept the room very clean.

The local staff on reception were not that friendly (they seemed totally uninterested and bored.... they need to look for an alternative career) which was strange as everyone else we met on the island were delightful. The waiters and waitresses were much better.

The breakfast was very, very, very mediocre and when we ate there for one evening the food was awful. There are a few really nice local places to go out and eat in the evening.... staying for an evening meal at the hotel is NOT recommended

That said we loved our time on Comoros .....a wonderful destination and the Golden Tulip hotel (also called Itsandra hostel ) is the best place to stay. I understand it is getting a make over.... it is desperately needed.

These glorious islands will be discovered soon so despite the poor accommodation I suggest if you like out of the way locations..... visit soon
