My husband and I are from Pennsylvania and were visiting family in New Orleans. We took a day trip to Avery Island and at the recommendation of my niece, stayed at The Caldwell House. The house itself is amazing, with elegantly appointed rooms throughout. We were fortunate to stay in The Master Suite, which has a huge master bath and a working fireplace. It was early March and a cold snap that was all over the country came through for one night (it had been in the high 70s during the day). We felt totally pampered when with a flip of a switch we turned on the fireplace in the morning! Carolyn was a gracious host and over a delicious breakfast shared stories about the family that had owned the house. One of the other guests was originally from the area and she told us about her family and life in Lafayette. It was delightful! We will definitely visit the Caldwell House on our next trip to Louisiana. Thank you, Carolyn!

Room Tip: The Master Suite is on the first floor, large and very quiet.

I'm a New Jersey-born "yankee" myself, but fell in love with Louisiana culture, food, music and people over ten years ago! So glad you were able to experience both the excitement of New Orleans and our Cajun hospitality in Vermilion Parish.

We went to Caldwell House as part of a first trip to Louisiana with a friend who is originally from Lafayette. The house itself is big, beautiful and each room is decorated uniquely with its own personality. I enjoying waking up to the smell of breakfast cooking and each breakfast served was freshly prepared and beautifully served. Linens were lovely and towels and bathrobe plush, high quality! Carolyn who is the house manager was a delightful hostess and shared a lot of local history with us. Carolyn is a special lady who is a big part of the experience of staying at the Caldwell, we had lots of great conversation and big laughs around the table! Many happy memories at a beautiful home with a warm staff, I would
definitely give it 5 stars and return again!

No other place would have been as special for our youngest daughter's wedding reception. From the moment we entered for the pre-wedding festivities to the minute we left after a wonderful evening... words can not describe our experience. The house is gorgeous, the staff beyond belief in hospitality and the reception perfect! The food was fantastic and the serving staff of both the food as well as the bar were exceptional. Mark, Darlene, and Carolyn were so welcoming and accommodated our every need. The spacious room on the second floor was a perfect place for the bridal party and mother-of-the bride to share special memories as we prepared for the wedding. Each time we pass by the Caldwell, only great memories will come to mind of the special evening we spent together celebrating a special milestone in our daughter's life. Denise

Room Tip: All of the rooms are wonderful, but the master suite has a Jacuzzi tub!

The Caldwell House was an awesome place for my wife and I to stay. She is from Abbeville, but there were too many family members already staying at her parents house. We stayed Friday and Saturday night. Our room was gorgeous. The bed was comfortable. My wife's sister and all of the bridesmaids were able to rent the room across the hall from us to get ready for the wedding. Mrs. Carolyn had snacks for the girls during the day and breakfast for us in the morning that was delicious. She even made me a plate of cheese and crackers that she left in the fridge for hangover snacking. Our friends had the downstairs suite for just the Saturday night and also really enjoyed themselves.
