My husband and I stayed here Christmas night as we were travelling. We felt like we'd rented a small apartment rather than a hotel room! It was spacious and had all the comforts of home. It was extremely quiet and there were many choices for breakfast the next morning. We would highly recommend this hotel!

Our first time staying at this Residence Inn and it is definitely one of the best in the franchise! The staff was awesome. We were those "challenging" patrons as we had to rush up for a family funeral days before Christmas. We didn't know how many were coming, the length of stay, got a second room, cancelled it .... Naomi and Christine just kept smiling as we extended our stay, then shortened it. They were flexible and accommodating just wanting to keep us happy and comfortable during a very rough week for the 4 days we were there. We cannot thank them enough. Nathan in the dining room was top rate as well! I would consider this young man as head manager at a 5-star if I had a hotel. He was on top of every item in the kitchen, its cleanliness, and positive interactions with guests. So conscientious and a hard worker. We also loved Jen in the kitchen who was so warm and friendly as well. She never hesitated to help a guest with their meals which was a challenge as by now, lots of families with young children were onsite due to holiday travel. As for the room, the 2 bedroom suite was terrific. Very comfortable, nicely appointed, and all new. The only thing missing were dishtowels, but we didn't eat in so it was no big deal. The hotel was recently renovated. So thank you to the entire staff, we loved our stay! (PS, you might want to watch hockey tournament weekends as the arena is close by and at times has lots of young ones running around).

Room tip: They are all newly appointed

After visiting Maine for a prep school opportunity, we decided to stay in Auburn at the Residence Inn just because there were no local chain hotels in the area where the school is located. You can tell the hotel was recently renovated and it looked great. The location is centrally located with walking distance to a mall, box store and plenty of restaurants. Breakfast was located in the front lobby area but out of the way from guest to enter. The pool, gym and laundry facility was tucked away in the corner so you could not smell, hear or really see it unless you were there to use. The workout space was laid out nicely with enough equipment. The pool had a sauna with it which I do wish was a better distance away from the actual pool area. The cleaning staff was on point thorough and friendly. The front desk staff was punctual, on top of all issues and had great follow up skills. My one set back for this place was the lack of diversity in the snack bar area. They needed some more variety here. Otherwise, well done Residence Inn in Auburn

Room tip: Pay for the comfort especially if you have kids.

The staff was very accommodating. The room we stayed in was newly renovated. Great location to Bates College and the shops. We enjoyed having a separate sitting area to watch tv in the evening. The kitchen and walk in showers were great too. They are in the middle of renovations so we were lucky to get a new room.

Dear Judy C,
I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. Our suites offer more space than our competition offers, so I'm glad you liked the separate living room area as well as the kitchen and walk in shower. Thank you for choosing to stay with us, and we hope you return soon.

On the plus side, the breakfast was really good, with lots of choices. On the negative side, our suite appeared to need a "spring cleaning". The floor of the shower was dingy, the hook on the back of the bathroom door was loose so nothing would hang on it, doors were scuffed and dirty, a wall and the ceiling had obvious spots of something, the backsplash in the kitchen area was dirty, the front of the dishwasher was dirty, the door to the suite was very hard to open and difficult to get through if you are loaded down with bags, all the pillows were very firm and too puffy (hello sore morning neck)--and finally, the sheet on the bed had a very obvious stain on it and appeared old and "slept on", which the hotel was asked to change. The embarrassed housekeeper apologized profusely, telling us that the hotel had started outsourcing their laundry instead of doing it in-house. I have stayed at Residence Inns many times, and my husband even more so on his business trips and we both thought this one was average in comparison to other locations due to the room just looking a little beat up and in need of a more thorough cleaning.
