The site of the monument is on the northern coast, and the view is amazing. The hike down to the lower lookout is a bit strenuous, and the hike back up is doubly so. But if you want a good photo of The Elephant Rock island, you'll want to do it anyway. We ordered sandwiches to take away at a local cafe, and had a nice picnic here. This is one of the most picturesque spots on the island, and the Cook memorial just adds to the mistique.

Great place to visit with the views being an easy drawcard to this site. Spectacular coastline and access is easy.

Perfect photo opportunities here. You can do this if you do a self drive tour of the island. Hopefully you have a clear day.

set on a stunning view across rugged coast line it is hard to see why they picked this particular spot to land as there was other easier locations

Well worth the travel to this area and monument. I can understand why Captain Cook chose this spot to land on the island. The water is calm and the environment appealing.
