Just came back from Antigua Guatemala, spent 3 nights at Cirilo hotel. All good opinions about this hotel are true! Very romantic atmosphere,so If you are planning anniversary, Valentine's day or proposal, that's a good place!
- all hotel employees are super kind and helpful
- all rooms are cozy and perfectly designed ( everyone is different!)
- breakfast is very good - from your menu options try Guatemala style with fried banana and local fresh cheese yummy!
Totally recommend! just hope after so many good opinions they don't rise prices.

Room Tip: number 7 is a beautiful suite the nicest room! numbers 3 and 6 are charming ( one bed but they add a twin bed if you need it) , 4, 5 have 2 beds

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay at Cirilo. The owner/manager, Ricardo, and his associate,Giovanni, were both friendly and professional, gave excellent advice on restaurants and places to visit, and even insisted on driving us to our chosen restaurant and back to the Hotel each evening. Nothing was too much trouble for them or their helpful staff. We really appreciated the calm of this small but welcoming place: our room overlooked the patio/pool with a sunny corner to enjoy a truly delicious breakfast, with freshly-squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit salad (5 fruits) 3 kinds of warm home-baked breads, jam, honey, eggs/bacon if wanted, and tea or coffee. All rooms have fireplaces with a ready-to-light fire for additional atmosphere or warmth. One caveat: we were not aware of the altitude of Antigua (1,500 metres), so nights were chilly and the fire a welcome addition therefore. Our room was especially picturesque as part of the wall of the original monastery was visible. We have no hesitation in recommending Cirilo to those seeking authentic charm and comfort.

Recently my wife, two daughters and I and spent three weeks travelling through Mexico and Guatemala staying at ten or more hotels !! Hotel Cirilo was without doubt the most amazing placed we stayed at !! No doubt you will have seen other reviewers fantastic photo's of the beautiful rooms and the emaculately landscaped gardens set in the ruins of a 15th century monastry but there is so much more including; the most luxurious beds we slept in including five star international chains, little touches like 1.25 litres bottles of water in the rooms (not the stingy small bottles we got everywhere else), showers with heaps of pressure to wash away those aches and pains from exploring the streets of Antigua , breakfast included in the rate which was excellent both in quality and quantity and most importantly the warmth and genuine hospitality from both Ricardo and his amazing staff. One night whilst we were staying at Hotel Cirilo another female guest was robbed whilst walking around Antigua. Ricardo dropped everything to look after her and her partner including taking them to the Police station to file a report. In the midst of this situation he called his business partner Giavani and asked him to come and pick us up in his car and drive us our restuarant rather than have us call a taxi. Additionally one afternoon I caught a tuk tuk back to the hotel from the centre of town and didn't enough small change to pay the driver, even though Ricardo was in Guatemala City at a meeting one of the staff paid the driver from petty cash and just said to drop the money back when I had a chance. In this case it wasn't the amount of money that was important but it was the iniative by the staff at Hotel Cirilo to ensure that all aspects of our stay were as pleasant and trouble free as they could make it. As a Traveller I recognise how important it is to reward those Hotels that go the extra mile, Antigua is a real gem and Hotel Cirilo is a stand out amongst its peers !!!

Despite many beautiful hotels in Antigua, the first rank on Tripadvisor well deserved. A beatifull boutique hotel in Antigua, smartly fit into the ruins of old Spanish monastery. Very picturesque. Because it is not centrally located, you fell like having a rest there. It does not absolutelly mean that it is far from the centre, only 10 minutes of cosy walk.
Rooms are spacious and very comfortable (BEDS TOO - which is important).
The staff very helpful with the owner - Ricardo, being a great and helpful host.

Trully recommended!!!

We spent two wonderful nights at Cirilo. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The hotel is meticulously maintained, with clean rooms and beautifully landscaped grounds. The breakfast (included in room rate) was superb. Overall it was an extremely pleasant experience and good alternative to pricier hotels in the area (like Santo Domingo). The hotel is somewhat outside of the city center, but still within walking distance of all the key sights in Antigua.
