“MISLEADING”

This is a difficult review to right as there were some good and bad features about the property.
The good parts were that it was in the centre of the old town so everything was on hand. The apartment was very clean. There was plenty of shower gel, shampoo and toilet rolls.

However, the apartment itself was on two levels. On the ground floor was a very tiny kitchen. Although it was described as having a grill and freezer. The only "grill" i could find was an old portable barbeque which was outside. For cooking there were two electric rings.(don't know how 4 people could stay here. The freezer was a small icebox in the fridge. The kitchen was so small that only one person could sit there. The living area/2nd bedroom was also very small and contained a sofa bed, a dining chair and a television. The tv was broken when we arrived (good enough they fixed it the next day )however it had only 4 channels and all were in Croation. To get to the shower room and bedroom you had to go out of the back door where the shower room was on the groundfloor. To get to the bedroom you had to climb two flights of concrete steps (one flight without a handrail) which were in a small open courtyard. The bedroom consisted of two single beds (which you could feel the springs through) two bedside tables and a rack to hang your clothes on. There were no drawers or wardrobe. If you needed to use the bathroom in the middle of the night you had to make sure you were suitably dressed as the stairs down to the bathroom was in a courtyard and overlooked by other houses and windows on 3 sides. It was the same whenyou had a shower you had to be dressed going for a shower and get dressed again before coming out of the shower room as you did not know who was watching.
As I say we had a nice welcome. Any request we had were speedily responded to. It is just that it was really inconvenient having to make sure you were suitably dressed and then go up and down two steep flight of steps whenever you needed to use the bathroom. (I found this a bit daunting in the middle of the night and had we been any older it may have been a problem). We also practicall lived out of our suitcase for the week because of a lack of drwers etc.(not so bad for a weekend).

I realize that you are not familiar with this way of life, but these houses were built many many years ago and all houses in the strict city center are built this way, in an open space. This method of construction is specific for this area and the old city cores. I'm sorry that it didn't suit you and you didn't like it, but in the pictures you could see very well what it looks like and all the guests so far loved it and were more than interested in the apartment, what is more this is the only negative comment that we have ever experienced.
Purpose of this kind of stay is that you experience the charm of the old way of life in the summer season. For the price you paid you got the right size of kitchen and the amount of comfort as well as superior service and a warm welcome with a bottle of wine. For what you want you need a luxury hotel because it will provide you with the comfort you are looking for and that is in accordance with your age, and you must be aware that the bigger the price you pay the better the comfort you get. Keep in mind that our lovely apartment is in accordance with budget accommodation.
Split and Croatia are such destinations that need to be enjoyed in, and our house is perfectly located to enjoy a good night sleep, prepare a decent meal and be so close to the city center to experience the true Mediterrean way of life.
