The hotel isn't much to look at from the outside and is not in a very exciting part of town, although it is a simple 10-15 minute walk to the Old Town and there is a bus if you are feeling lazy. However, the interior of the hotel is great. The rooms are simple but quite large with comfortable beds and everything you need, including a balcony with a great view of the landscape and the sea in the distance. The roof terrace is amazing, with a small pool, jacuzzi, open air gym, bar and beauty treatments. It is immaculately presented and has great views. Staff were friendly and helpful and you can book excursions direct from reception. The restaurant is also very good and the included breakfast buffet has everything you could ever want for breakfast - I admit to having a chocolate donut on my last day!

Room Tip: Road outside can be a bit noisy so recommend a higher room - they also have better views!

We chose this hotel based on reviews as we wanted a short break in Split and we weren't disappointed.
Very new hotel, spotlessly clean, in a residential area of Split around 20 minutes walk(down hill) to the old town and harbour area. Hotel only has an entrance on the ground floor as it shares the building with a bank, supermarket and a coffee bar. We had a slightly disappointing room on the 1st floor as it was immediately above the hotel entrance, whilst we had a balcony it is not very private.
The bedroom itself is very roomy with as huge bed which was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was also a very good size with an excellent shower.
There's a restaurant and lounge area on the 2nd floor. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant where there is opportunity to eat outside although the tables aren't set, several people decided to eat there, as we did. Breakfast is usual buffet. Very pleasant staff although they were sometimes slow to refresh items.
Probably the hotels best feature is the roof top views. There's leisure facilities on the roof (7th floor) including a fitness room, bar, sauna and small beautiful swimming pool. There's a small sundeck area with very comfortable sun loungers. Spectacular views of the mountains and the harbour area from the roof.
Staff in reception very helpful and our room was ready by around 12:30 as we arrived early. We decided to park our car in the underground car park for a small daily fee. You could park on the nearby residential streets.
The walk back from the old town was a little tiring as the temperature was around 30 degrees during the day and 20+ in the evening. We chose to break our walk back at the Moon bar, a large bar around half way back from town.
Definitely recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Try and get a higher floor room facing down towards the old town

We stayed here 4 nights in total and we really enjoyed it. The best thing about this hotel is the pool. It is absolutely stunning. Sunbathing on that roof top is such a lovely experience. As other people have said the hotel is only a year old so everything is new and clean, the beds were super comfy, probably the best we slept in during our trip. Breakfast was also very nice. We thought all the staff were excellent. The front desk couldn't do enough to help us and the gentleman who works behind the bar was brilliant, his wine knowledge is great, he's happy to recommend wines and talk you through them.

Some people have mentioned the location. Its true, its about a 15 minute walk into the centre of old town but they don't actually have any hotels like this in old town itself. We didnt mind the walk, often we needed it as we had eaten too much during dinner and we found the walk lead us past local bars and clubs that otherwise we would have missed.

My only negative comment would be that as it is a year old I dont really think they should consider themselves a "new hotel". They currently dont have information folders about the hotel and the restaurant in the rooms, wine lists by the bar or "Do not disturb" signs (which lead to 2 embarrassing moments) because its "still so new". This could be sorted so quickly, Im not sure why it hasnt?

Other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel! A little bit of luxury in Split!

Dear Katy,

Thank you for staying at Dioklecijan Hotel & Residence and thank you very much for sharing your impression.

We are delighted to read that you felt comfortable during your stay with us and that you were satisfied so much with our rooftop pool, the professionalism of our staff, as well as our breakfast buffet.

Please accept our sincere apologies for those embarassing moments, because we have items for 'Do not disturb' and we regret to hear that during your stay they were not put in your room.
We are sad to read that we could not meet your expectations with our information folders about the hotel due to change in visual design of all printed materials.

For sure they will be ready hopefully for your next visit!

Stayed here for 3 nights with my sister end May. Found the hotel on trip advisor.
Brand new hotel so every thing lovely and modern, clean etc.
Staff very efficient/friendly/helpful. it is a good 20 min walk into the old town of Split which is easy going in down hill but a bit of a killer coming back up.
Breakfast was good lots of usual things to choose from but not any thing other than eggs if you are looking for cooked full english! and a nice terrace to have breakfast on too.(cereals, fruit, breads, cheese, cold meats, yogurts etc)
The hotel is not offering lunch/dinner yet it says you need to give them 2hrs notice if you want those meals! but Split has such a massive selection of good and inexpensive places to eat we did that each evening.
Room was nice modern with good bathroom and rain shower head + normal one& balcony but the hotel is in a residential area up the hill- you do get distant sea views. The roof top pool area is the best bit of this hotel there is a small bar, the pool is not as massive as it looks in the pics. Very nice loungers and there were never more than 8 people up there during our 4 days! nice comfy sofas and a jacuzzi with views too. Best bit of hotel we thought....oh and a couple of running machines/ex. bike/cross trainer small area by pool.....fresh towels up there too for guests.
We also were able to walk to two good beaches from the hotel, and there is a good super market and cafe/bar on the ground floor, we had a room on the 5th floor and it was perfectly quiet, even though it is a main road leading into town.
Would go back without hesitation.

Room Tip: higher up room best
