Amazing scenery and country! Very worth a visit. The water is so crystal clear, one can see lots of fishes and good for swimming and snorkelling! We went to visit 3 islands (Kolochep, Lupud and Sipan) and out of 4 choices, I think we picked the best one! This company was run by a family and we were given home cooked food at the captain's house - a 7 course lunch which was quite delicious. Eating out can be pricey and especially in the old city! If one has small children, it is worth self-catering as food from supermarket is a lot cheaper. We also went to visit another island, Lokrum, 5 minutes from mainland by boat and we saw lots of peacocks, pea hens and chicks and wild rabbits, good for children to enjoy. It is worth buying day bus pass as it incorporates visits to museums and the old city walls free of charge. just be warned that some museums were closed on certain days as we only bought a day pass and we could not visit the museum that were closed on the day we wanted to visit, although one of the museums did let us visit the next day when it was opened.
The rental accommodation was also good. Our host, Ivan, is very friendly and helpful. He offered to pick us up from the airport at a reasonable cost and to take us back for our flight home. The apartment was adequate for us (my husband, daughter and me) and it was equipped with a toaster, kettle, oven and even a hairdryer. The only thing we found short of was mugs as we have to use a glass for hot drinks for there were only 2.
The Croatians are very friendly and although we were walking in lonely places at night, we did not feel threatened at all.
We will visit again but probably not in July as the temperature is over 30 degrees centigrade and it is too hot to wonder around. It is good to ensure the accommodation has air conditioning if one is visiting during July and August! Apparently the best months to visit Dubrovnik is during May and September as temperatures are around 22-26 degrees.
This apartment has every amenity a traveler needs. All appliances are in great working order. Family hosts live upstairs and are 5-star hosts. The entire family wants to ensure you have an enjoyable and comfortable visit. They give you your privacy, but always wave and ask if everything is OK if they see you outside. They are warm, welcoming and cheerful. Apartment is located about a 20-minute bus ride from the Old Town, so there's none of the noise from buses or crowds at the end of your day. True, apartment is at the top of a hill, which can be laborious to walk up, but with a little patience, buy a daily bus pass and wait for the number 2 bus. It stops about 50 yards from the apartment and is a gentle stroll. Dubrovnik's public transportation system runs on time and there is no part of the city the system does not cover. At either end of the street there are magnificent views of the harbor with docked cruise ships at one and the open sea and Lapad Beach at the other. The Adriatic is stunning. Grocery store, bakeries, a very nice promenade and the beach are a few minutes walk away. Book this place!
