We loved the appartment, the pictures are accurate. The location is great, close to the Old Town as well as to two beaches, one sandy.
But the main highlight are the owners. Very heartfull people, espesially Tonko who tried to make the stay as comfortable as possible. We were travelling with a 3month old baby and Tonko arranged the transfer from and to the airport with the car seat for the baby, in the apparment I had a baby cot, we were provided with an excellent dinner, tastefull liquers and wine, etc..many little pleasent things which made us feel like at home. at no extra charge which is very rare. We felt like with old friends. We will definitelly return and recommend the accommodation to our friends.

“Amazing apartment and hosts”
Reviewed 12 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

My husband and I spend four nights in Dubrovnik. Our overall experience with apartment Tanja was amazing. Our hosts Tonko and Tanja were such nice people. The apartment was immaculate and had all possible comforts of home. I hope to one day visit Dubrovnik again and if I do there is no other place that I would want to stay. Thank you Tanja and Tonko for making our stay in Dubrovnik one that we will never forget.

We have just returned from 4 nights in Dubrovnik staying in Apartment Tanja and I cannot speak highly enough of the accommodation. From the moment we booked, Tonko (the owner) could not have been more helpful and friendly. He collected us from the airport and took us to the apartment which is actually a self contained part of his family home. The pictures on here of the view from the Iiving space, balcony and bedroom do not actually do the true beauty of it justice. As soon as we walked thought the door our breath was quite literally taken away by what we saw, it was utterly stunning. Tonko showed us in, provided us with an ice cold beer (much needed!!!) and talked through restaurants and where to find things. He then left us to unpack, although I found it hard to tear myself away from the view!
The apartment itself has everything you could need and, as it is actually Tonko's home when it is not rented out, it has that 'loved' feeling to it that you just wouldn't get with a chain hotel or multi-owned apartment. The apartment does have air conditioning but, even though it was 30 + degrees c during our stay we didn't need to use it because 2 sets of patio doors and many windows meant that the through- draft kept the apartment cool enough.
In terms of location, the position of Apartment Tanja couldn't be more perfect for the old town. It took a gentle 10-15 minute walk from the apartment to the old town walls taking you past 3 5* hotels en-route. The fact that we did not once think 'I wish I was staying there' is a real testament to how fab Apartment Tanja is. In terms of nearby beaches, it is good to note that all beaches are pebble/ rocky not sandy so get yourself some pebble-shoes; they are much more friendly to your feet!! Less than 5 minutes walk below the apartment is a rocky shoreline where you can swim safely and sunbathe on rock surfaces, but if you prefer a shoreline where the crystal blue waters gently lap the pebbly beach, then there is a beautiful one less than 15 minutes stroll away. On this beach there is a FANTASTIC beach restaurant which served, amongst other things, an amazing seafood platter. Tonko even keeps a parasol in the apartment for you to use so you don't have to hire one!! This beach was never too crowd and seemed to be favoured by the locals (we had a drink with Tonko and his wife Tanja one day we were there!)
The food in Dubrovnik old town favours seafood (as you would expect) and we would recommend 'Arsenal' restaurant which is right on the harbour front. It did serve other dishes other than sea food and my husband had one of the best meals his ever tasted there!
In terms of drinks, the guide books recommend Buza Bar which is actually hidden in the city walls with the bar hanging over the cliff side. It is true, the views are amazing as is the ambience, but they only serve a small array of drinks (no cocktails!). We however, found a fab little Soul Caffe up a side street in the old town which had a great atmosphere and served very good mojitos!!
In terms of activities, we took a 3 hour kayaking trip which allowed us to watch the sunset on the sea (AMAZING!). It was a guided tour: my husband and I shared a kayak and the tour guide was on another kayak. There were several others in our group too. We picked up the kayaks from just outside the old town, kayaked in to a cave where we stopped and snorkelled, went round Lokrum Island and then back to the start point. It was a great way to see some beautiful scenery and the guide was really knowledgeable and entertaining. Well worth doing!
We also took a trip to Lokrum Island (which you look directly out to from the apartment). Again, a really beautiful place. Plenty of places to swim and chill out. We had a great day there, well worth a visit.
You can't go to Dubrovnik and not walk the city walls. The views are fabulous, but make sure, if you visit in summer you go early as it is incredibly hot up there!!
Undoubtedly, Dubrovnik is a city to fall in love with (we have) and if this wasn't enough in itself, it was Tonko and Tanja's hospitality and warmth that really sealed it as the best break I've ever been on. Tanja cooked for us one night, just out of the goodness of her heart and Tonko greeted us with wine on more than one occasion when we came home in the evening. We were invited to join him and his family for drinks, they were more like friends than someone you rent an apartment from. Tonko is such an interesting man. Born and bred in Dubrovnik, he was actually born in the home the apartment is in. He was happy to talk about his life and how Croatia had changed and what happened during the war and at 61 years young, he really is a great guy- never intrusive, just so friendly and welcoming whilst at the same time allowing us privacy. Perfect.
We have fallen in love with Dubrovnik, and even if we could afford one of those 5* hotels we'd still choose to stay at Apartment Tanja. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

“Wonderful”
Reviewed 10 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Apartment has a marvellous view and is in great location. Everything is spotlessly clean and comfortable and exactly as portrayed in the advert. Brilliant, helpful and friendly owners who are never intrusive and who contribute to a memorable and very enjoyable stay.

“An apartement with excellent view and friendly host”
Reviewed 8 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

The location of the apartement was really excellent, just 15 min walk to the city of old Dubrovnik, and 10 min walk in the other driection to a lovely beach, St Jacobs. The view from the balcony is wounderful, old city of Dubrovnik, boats, the island Lokrum, we had breakfast at the balcony every morning and it was so relaxing and nice. One of the bedrooms is small but it was no problems for us, 4 adult women. The bedroom is just for sleeping and as such is was ok. The hosts Tonko and Tanja is really friendly and can help you with almost everything. We recommend a visit to the island Lokrum, Mostar and all the nice restaurants in the old city!
