One of the things that made an impression on me in Plovdiv, is how in this city you can find all kind of religious places-temples. This mosque specifically is situated right in the center of Plovdiv next to the remains of the ancient stadium. It's free to enter and it's really worth visiting since it's not something you see everyday in a lot of other cities. Also, next to it there is a traditional Turkish café where you can drink Turkish tea served in a beautiful porcelain vessel and other Turkish delights.

Entrance free of charge. Obviously women can enter only with the whole body covered, but there are some clothes available for you at the entry door. We discovered that the mosque was open to tourist only by chance; probably you can enter only in some moments of the day, when the building is empty from people praying. You should ask and go because it's worth it! :)

This is in the centre of Plovdiv and is a must see attraction. They supply the clothing to cover yourself if you do not have appropriate clothing to enter. The caretaker put on the lights for us which we greatly appreciated.

It is hard to miss the Djumaya Mosque in Plovdiv, as it dominates the Old Town square. At a glance, it may appear closed to the public, but if one pushes through the cafe and up the stairs, visits are indeed possible. The staff on the front door are welcoming, and simply ask that you remove your shoes inside the porch before entering the main hall.

There is not a lot to "see" inside, in the sense that unlike most other mosques that are open to the public there is no exhibition on Islam or similar topics. Instead, it is a fairly pleasant quiet space, where one is free to roam and explore the hall, as long as one is quiet and respectful. It really is worth a quick visit, for this reason.
