This hotel was average in my opinion and a bit too expensive for that. The room ( in Vanida house) was nice and simple and clean indeed. We had a safety deposit box which is important. But it was very very noisy! The neighbor kept dogs and birds (roosters...) and there was very loud music as well. We could barely sleep during our 3 nights stay. I would not recommend this place for a stay in Luang Prabang. I think that for this money you will find better options.

The Sala Prabang Hotel is situated in a wonderful location by the Mekong River and close to local bars and restaurants. There are plenty of places to book trips, hire bikes etc. around the hotel. The local markets and cultural sites are a short distance away.
The hotel itself is quite old but the rooms are spacious and comfortable. It could be described as 'quirky'!! There is a separate shower unlike a lot of hotels. The staff are friendly and helpful and enjoy practising their English with the guests.
Breakfast is served over the road overlooking the Mekong River which is idyllic but the choice is limited and somewhat predictable. However, as a base the hotel is good.
Be prepared for the drumming of the Buddhist priests early in the morning!!

I stayed three nights at the Ban lao room. Salad Prabang is a collection of renovated buildings. The villa, Banlao, and Charlee are connected to the main lobby. With others in separate building nearby. The room is lovely, simple but tastefully furnished. Breakfast is served across the street by the Mekone river. Overall, good amibience and location. I recommend staying here.

The Sala Prabang is in a great location, overlooking the Mekong River. Our room was on the upper floor and had a small terrace overlooking the river and riverside, on the other side of the road. Breakfast was served on a larger terrace, overlooking the riverside trees and we could feel the tranquility as the boats of varying sizes plied their trade across the river or went up/downstream. Staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly. A great place in which to spend a few days at the end of our eight weeks' holiday.

Room tip: At front for good views

We stopped by this hotel after spending a few nights at two great but expensive places and wanted to save money on the next five nights. It was a good thing we did. The hotel actually consists of a few different buildings situated near one another with varying rates from about 30 - 80 USD. We stayed two nights in the Issada Residence near the Presidential Palace on a relatively quiet alley. It had a huge porch and clean and comfortable room with all the amenities you would need. We then stayed in a luxurious suite in the back of the Chalinee Residence with a large private patio and fish pond. This room was suggested by the amiable host Suri. He was incredibly helpful and honorable and had all the right answers to all my silly questions. His boss should give him a raise. As an added bonus, the rooms included two GLASS bottles of water per day. We usually don't use the provided water on principle because of all the needless plastic that litters our world, but in this case we could hydrate in good conscience. The staff was exceptionally friendly and professional and the hotel was in a great location in the heart of all the action. I would definitely stay here again.
