Like many former expats I tend to be wary of buffets (in fact I usually avoid them) as unhappy experiences have suggested that they do not offer such good vfm as one might think. However, during a recent stay at the Jeddah Hilton I found myself unable to summon up the effort to clean up after a daylong construction site visit and find somewhere nice to eat. I decided to brave the Al Safina buffet offering - and was very pleasantly surprised. This was an excellent meal!

Starting with a very nice offering of cold starter dishes (including anchovies which I love), I put together a plate which very much resembled the product of the old, much missed hors d'oeuvre trolley. The Insalata Tricolere was particularly good as was the carpaccio of beef. I then tried the mushroom soup which was OUTSTANDING, creamy, slightly garlicky and tasting of freshly gathered mushrooms. Main courses were more than adequate - I put together a plate of Middle Eastern specialities which was very enjoyable. There were some interesting cold desserts - I had a very nice cherry and cream concoction. The one let down was the cheese trolley which offered only two Italian varieties; one blue cheese and one smoked - very disappointing.

Probably the best buffet meal I've had since one in the Hong Kong Hotel.

I really thought it should have been better. I mean for 190 riyals for 1 person and in the hilton hotel, it should have been as good as park hyatt hotel in downtown jeddah.
The grill area could be much improved and the drinks are so expensive (20 to 24 riyals per cup)

Due to a business trip, we tried breakfast, lunch and dinner in this restaurant. Breakfast was very good, plenty of healthy and not so healthy choices, waiters attentive and very clean. Lunch and dinner were buffets and again, very good choice of food, hot food well prepared and cooked, and a vast choice of salads and sweets.

So many choices for breakfast and you can go much later like minutes before 11am and you can have a brunch feast. They have cold items for salmon and meats, small salad station, some cheeses, an egg station where you can order as you please, mannakish station where the chef can make your bread the way you want it. Big plus for me is the fruit station where you can make your own juice or smoothie. As fresh and healthy as can be without sugar!

They have brilliant breakfast, fresh cutting fruit, Arabic pi "managaish", waffles and different fried eggs.
The dinner is not that much except Sushi and sweets.
