This is becoming my favorite place for coffee and something light. Love the casual atmosphere with the eclectic decor. Coffee is great and the selections of breads and pastries will have you in a quandary as to which one to choose. Sandwiches and breakfast selections are delicious.

We came for brunch on a Saturday and the food was awesome. The service was a little slow to get going, but it was worth the wait. I had the fried chicken sandwich on a biscuit and it was delicious; my partner had the burger and it was really good also. The bloody mary was tasty, but not very strong. The restaurant is cute inside with a cafe on one side and the restaurant on the other. My only complaint is how cold and dark it was - we were a little chilly even with our coats on. 10/10 will be coming back for the fried chicken sandwich. Hmm.. maybe even tomorrow because it sounds so good right now. Please turn up the heat!

According tony daughter, who is a MBA grad student and her friends, Avalon is one of the top five places to eat in Ann Arbor ( theater ones are Fred's, Mani, Sava, and Zingerman's) . So we went here for dinner on a Thursday night. Bowls are popular with U Michigan students, so there were plenty of 'bowl" items to choose from. The menu sided with tapas options, which I ordered. Wonderful mushrooms. What I especially remember is the flash-fried cauliflower.

Overall very good and moderately priced. Crispy chicken sandwich excellent but messy to eat. Fried chicken not as good as my grandmother's...just OK. Trout very good to excellent per fellow diners. Grilled chicken sandwich very good.
