How lucky we were to arrive and get a seat right away on the deck. It was a gloriously warm, summer Sunday evening perfect for dining al fresco overlooking the beautiful and pristine Lake Winnipesaukee. The restaurant is at the heart of what is going on in and around Alton Bay. Two of us had the Cobb Salad with chopped iceberg lettuce topped with chicken, avocado, bacon, cucumber, egg, tomato, red onion, crumbled blue cheese and honey Dijon vinaigrette. My husband had the Flat Iron Steak – charbroiled with their steak rub topped with peppercorns and blue cheese and a side salad. The steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked medium rare. Our friend savored the Ravioli and Duck – butternut ravioli in a butternut and apple sauce with tender bones breast of duck – she was thrilled. Service was little on the slow side – not as attentive as we would have liked. Also, we had to ask for more water.

We have had a number of excellent lunches at Shibley's, but had not been there for dinner in some time. We returned tonight and were immensely pleased to find that the quality we had remembered (for dinner) and the quality we had enjoyed at lunches was, in fact, one in the same!
First of all, the dinner menu offered at Shibley's is large, varied, and creative. Four of us chose 3 different meals (Chilean Sea Bass, Seafood Risotto, Stuffed Haddock with Shrimp and Lobster) and every one of us was thoroughly pleased with both the presentation and the quality of our meal. Each meal was, without exaggeration, outstanding! Salads served with the meals were all equally good and served with house-made bleu cheese dressing. Additionally, service (Seth) was excellent as well.
Couple the above with a delightful view of boats (and on this occasion, a seaplane!) making their way in and out of pretty Alton Bay on Lake Winnipesaukee at all times of the day/evening and one has the makings of excellence in dining with ambiance! Shibley's is, quite likely, THE best dinner offered in the Alton Bay area and, indeed, in the Lakes Region!

My wife, son and I stopped at Shibley's for lunch last month and were able to sit on the deck overlooking Alton Bay. A very nice spot to eat and drink. They offer a very large menu with many tasty looking options and more than a few fun cocktails. My wife and I started with the Fresh and Warm Potato Chips as an appetizer and they were delicious. Way too many for two people to eat so a good choice for larger parties!

My wife had the reuben and I had a a tuna melt, both of which were above average in terms of taste and portion for what amount to common sandwiches. Our server was very pleasant and attentive even going so far as to chase us down in the parking lot after we left since my son forgot one of his toys at the table. She was extremely helpful with recommendations and very interactive with our son. I feel terrible not remembering her name but she was great!

This seems to be one of the few good dining out options in Alton so I would highly recommend it.

Had a quiet lunch after Labor Day weekend with only 4 other people dining in the same room as us. We asked for a seat in the corner by the window for an ideal view of the bay which was no problem. Asked our polite, friendly waitress if we could order a fried clam appetizer even though it was not listed on the menu. What they had on the menu was a clam plate which included a large portion of clams and French fries. She said," yes, we can do that and it will cost $18.00." Having not had fried clams over a year we decided to splurge. The clam bellys were delicious & perfectly cooked. We also chose to share a thin crust seafood pizza with white sauce. It was as listed on the menu slightly sweet but flavorful and filling, taking half home. Much more than we've ever spent on a lunch but what a treat!
