Very good choice in Santa Cruz. Nice pool area (gym in building just past the pool), breakfast area also near the pool. Room was large with seating area and a wonderful mural. We were late arriving for breakfast but they very kindly provided us with some food even though it was all put away. Wonderful service.
We walked to nearby Bravissimo restaurant for supper. Excellent option. Easy walk to main square. Both Libertad and Monsieur Rivero lead to Square. Libertad is a quieter walk but Rivero has banks with ATMs.

This hotel is large, modern and with an impersonal feel. It was handy to have a restaurant close to the reception and we had a lunch and a nice breakfast there. The pool looked inviting, but unfortunately there was no time to use it.

Our room was spacious and clean. Unfortunately the A/C was not up to the task, and we could not get below 26 degrees C. A bit uncomfortable when you are trying to sleep.

We had a fridge and an old-style in-room safe.

Hotel Cortez is located in the 3rd ring of Santa Cruz across from the main police station. it has a restaurant, with a very good breakfast, a pool, a gym, great service and large rooms with an excellent shower. the city has grown so much, so quickly, that the newer barrios have moved away from the hotel. the hotel is about a 15 to 20 minute
walk from the main square and a ten to 15 minute drive to the newer part of the city.
the hotel could use a facelift, but the rooms are comfortable.
