Entering the WA Gallery + shop was super visually stimulating and all the things on display were handpicked and interesting finds! I bought the stingray earrings with a pearl inlay for 25$ - make sure to bring money!

My husband & I stumbled into Gallery Wa as it was just beside our hotel, the Shinta Mani. The French owner Marie Fabre, happened to be in & she so generously explained
the art work currently on display, primarily those of Christian Develter. Very modern,
artsy portraits of tattooed female faces in huge canvases. Quite tempting to take home although we have no more wall space! Marie & her husband travel the world to bring
their own unique taste into Siem Reap & they offer genuine Cambodian items as well
that will make a one of a kind decor statement far removed from the usual Cambodian souvenir. My husband picked up a wonderfully soft cashmere scarf here but best of
all, Marie Fabre gave us her own list of Siem Reap's finest restaurants which I am proud to say..we tried ALL of them... with Cuisine Wat Damnak being the ultimate best of the lot! Thank you again, Marie! We will be sure to eat at Gaggan's when we hit Bangkok!

What a nice gallery this was at FCC Angkor - owned by a much travelled French couple with eclectic taste.
The day I went in they had hanging the work of Christian Develter - very large canvases - with a modern contemporary twist - portraits of the tattooed chin hill tribe women of Myanmar. This is no longer practised - thank god or Budda - so it is a kind of documentation of this ancient practise. Elaborate line designs all over the faces of young girls the work had the feeling of being "frozen" in time. Interesting and told the myth of this tribe well
Also the almost life size, like Buddhist monk in resin was very realistic.
Gallery also had interesting jewellery, pashmina scaves, carved Buddhas painted in very bright colors, lacquerware and other interesting gift ideas
Obviously they support some local artisans and from surrounding countries
Worth checking out because it is a well laid out space

The colourful window displays, neon Buddha heads, large paintings and one-of-a-kind necklaces are sure to draw you into this special shop. Conveniently located at the FCC Hotel, I found myself wanting to admire everything just one more time, every time I was nearby. The passionate owner, Marie Fabre, told me the story behind some truly beautiful and unique pieces. Everything in the shop has been hand-crafted, selected and tastefully curated. It's one of those rare boutiques/galleries with a bold personality and fine eye for selecting talented artisans. The place if you want to pick up a gorgeous "piece of art" from Cambodia and beyond.
