“Adequate hotel in Siem Reap”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2012

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. We stayed here for several weeks during peak season. The pool is gorgeous and better than the pictures! Location was perfect - close to the old market and despite being down a dirt lane, it was well lit and busy until 10pm each night so we felt safe to walk home from town. Older rooms were clean but very small and tiny bathroom that flooded each time you showered. New rooms were large with much nicer bathrooms. Probably the most disappointing was the staff...as a regular traveler to Cambodia, I have come to know the Khmer people as very friendly and exceptionally helpful. At Tanei, they weren't interested in getting to know you and it felt like it was trouble to ask for anything - a bike for the day or milk for your coffee or butter for your toast. The staff were never rude but we did not feel entirely welcomed during our stay. For a few days in Siem Reap, Tanei is fine but we will stay else where next time.

Stayed at the Tanei for 2 weeks in January with my father. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we particulaly enjoyed the family-run atmosphere. Our rooms (1 delux double and 1 VIP) were very spacious with good sized bathrooms with very efficient showers. The free breakfasts were very good and whilst we only ate in the restaurant twice we enjoyed our meals which were good value for money with a good choice. The pool was lovely. The guesthouse is walking distance from town but suprisingly quiet. All-in-all the Tanei is excellent value for money; very comfortable; lovely friendly staff and an excellent choice for our stay in Siem Reap. We definitely recommend it.

I stayed here by myself for 3 nights at $16 a night. I arrived from Phnom Penh by bus and was picked up by the guesthouse tuk tuk driver. My room was large and clean and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and courteous and never pushed tours on me--but were more than willing to answer questions I had. Laundry service was good, food was good (try the chicken kebab--delicious!), free breakfast was nice, and the pool was lovely. Lovely lush garden as you enter. Definitely recommend this place!

The staff were very helpful and helped us to plan our daily excursions. The hotel is located in a quiet part of town yet within walking distance of the night life. Value for money was excellent, but you have to remember you get what you pay for.We payed $112 for 2 adults and 2 children in one room to stay 4 nights. Untimely the best family holiday we have has so far.
