I have mixed feelings about this hotel. We stayed here for several weeks during peak season. The pool is gorgeous and better than the pictures! Location was perfect - close to the old market and despite being down a dirt lane, it was well lit and busy until 10pm each night so we felt safe to walk home from town. Older rooms were clean but very small and tiny bathroom that flooded each time you showered. New rooms were large with much nicer bathrooms. Probably the most disappointing was the staff...as a regular traveler to Cambodia, I have come to know the Khmer people as very friendly and exceptionally helpful. At Tanei, they weren't interested in getting to know you and it felt like it was trouble to ask for anything - a bike for the day or milk for your coffee or butter for your toast. The staff were never rude but we did not feel entirely welcomed during our stay. For a few days in Siem Reap, Tanei is fine but we will stay else where next time.
