I have stayed here a few times. The hotel is an economy business hotel, but standards are better than expected. Room was large and well appointed. Breakfast 3-star but good. OK the coffee is poor, but you get bacon, beans sausage and an eggs cooked personally for you.
It's an ideal place to stay after an evening crossing at LoHu. No need to join the taxi queue at LoHu because you can take the underground striaght from the border 2RMB for 2 or 3 stops and the hotel is 100m from the exit.
Evening's entertainment is the walking / shopping street which is round the block, behind the hotel. This is packed with the working classes on a night out. busy until 10 or 11pm. good for cheap clothes shopping and people watching.
Cheap eats: out the front door, turn left, walk 2 minutes, past the flashy nightclub is the "Lanzhou Lamien" noodle bar. Lamien and a large beer for RMB6. Perfect.
Confusion #1: when a car tries to drive to the front door of the hotel the driver invariably gets lost, because access is via a confusing one-way side street.
Confusion #2: The hotel is "Days Inn" in english, but in Chinese it's "Dai Suu". If you are taking a taxi, make sure you have a print out of the name and directions in Chinese.More
