About 30 mins easy drive at night from airport to hotel. Nothing around hotel at all that can be walked to - very isolated. It is set in a lovely garden surrounding - just grass and some trees but no flowers or colours. Staff helpful and polite.

Only 6 floors. Rooms are spacious, as is the bathroom. Separate shower recess and bathtub.
Very clean. Huge king bed that is very comfortable. Had to request for iron and ironing board.
Safe, hot water jug that does not require filling (does it automatically), 3-in-1 coffee and chinese tea supplied. Bottles of water free. Air-conditioning doesn't seem to work quite effectively. Good bathroom amenities supplied with combs, toothbrush/toothpaste, body loofahs, detergent, etc. Room has a desk top computer for use (free internet). No wifi.

Room service menu limited - food very oily. When ordering room service over the phone, they don't understand you and make you wait on the phone. I had to hang up and call reception, only to be told in broken English that someone is coming up to my room. I then point to the dish I wish to order. If you don't speak Mandarin, it is quite tricky. A very sweet young lady, Miao Yan Mei, takes my order each evening - she is just gorgeous and speaks enough English. One morning she was working whilst I was having breakfast and she offered to bring me my coffee to the table (when it is buffet and self-service anyway).

Breakfast - Floor 1 which is lobby, ground floor. Western buffet breakfast is limited and same each day - common cereal (corn flakes, bran and fruit loops) and toast. Chinese buffet breakfast is just like having lunch or dinner - fried rice, noodles, duck, beef, fried vegetables, different choices of porridge etc. Not great.

Foreign exchange - hotel does not do Australian dollars. Luckily I had some HK$. I think USD is fine but I did not check this. Ensure you have enough HK$, USD or CNY Yuan/RMB as all places around here do not take credit card or exchange $.

Hotel is about 10-15 mins by car to a tourist Chinese Village where you can get souvenirs. These places do not take credit card or have anywhere to exchange your money, so be prepared with enough local currency. Though reasonable items to be purchased here, you may like to get quite a few items so the cash runs out quite quickly.

Room tip: Room with a view to the fountain and front gardens is best.
