Three nights here to pick up Saturday and Sunday of Carnival. Perfect.Very large and comfortable room;they really are suites.Friendly and welcoming staff, great pool and absolutely in the thick of the action. Don't expect a quiet Saturday night. The biggest party in town collects around a major concert just over the road but we saw it as a benefit. Not the smartest address or hotel in town but if you want to be close to the action at a very reasonable price then this is the place for you.

Hotel Vallclaire Suites has spacious suite rooms. Second time here, and each room has had comfortable beds, a kitchen table, fridge, sink, and sofa, as well as ample space for luggage and clothes. The bathroom is also spacious and has a long counter which worked well as a changing station when my son was still in diapers. More towels would be nice. As a family of 3 we were given 2 bath towels and one hand towel. Overall, the rooms are basic, and could use a bit of renovation- window coverings, paint falling from ceiling in bathroom. First time we were here there was nothing in the kitchen area. This time there are some plates and coffee cups. Having a kitchen area is nice, but there is no coffee machine, no pots and pans to use on burners, and no utensils to cook.
There is a swimming pool, which is mostly shaded in the afternoon, which means the water can actually get really cold.
Breakfast is included with the cost of the room, and served outside, undercover, by the pool. We have found the service at breakfast to be slow. There is no menu, and the food is very basic.
The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, and some do speak English. Rooms toward the back of the hotel are cooler because they do not receive direct sunlight like the ones at the front.

The rooms are fairly large, and are very clean. The air conditioning worked well. There is no hot water in the shower, however. The staff are accommodating and polite. The breakfast is somewhat spartan: eggs, toast, and a juice. This hotel has taxis assigned to them, and the drivers we had were great. All in all, this is a strong value, especially for what they charge. Bruce and Lucia.

This is a great location towards the northern side of Barranquilla. Facilities are in above average condition, the staff is excellent and very helpful every step of the way. Really nice pool area, great for kids too, a small but equipped gym, secured parking is also available. WIFI was good throughout. We had the two bedroom family room and is was more than I expected. Very large, nice terrace, three working air conditioners, a living room area with a love seat and two chairs. Huge bathroom and shower with HOT water and a shower head (Those who aren't familiar traveling in Colombia, many hotels have the shower head missing lol). Even a kitchenette area with a few chairs and cookware provided upon request. More than a tiny mini fridge is also provided. Elevator is pretty new. They have lobby computers available for your use.
Breakfast was very good and available every day. I left the room late one day and they offered to prepare breakfast for me because they noticed I wasn't there that day. Room was always cleaned, sheets were changed as well. We cannot fault anything on this hotel or its property. Our trip was mixed Business and pleasure and they made our trip flawless.
We will return.

excellent: location is excellent, in the Prado/Country area full of bars, restaurants, shops, very central to get anywhere.

good: rooms are basic but spacious and clean.

so-so: single-pane windows do not protect you from street noise but that is only during Carnival period (street parties until 5am), otherwise it should be a quiet neighbourhood.

bad: internet service is extremely slow, they said it was the entire quadrant but that does not help me, i just couldn't get my emails done properly.

terrible: breakfast service is a complete hit and miss: even though there are as many people in the kitchen as there are in the breakfast area, only one seems to pay attention to servicing the guests but he is slow and forgets half of what you ask - and that is just from their standard breakfast meal, and I speak Spanish. extremely frustrating to have to wait for 25 mins just to get a juice, eggs with toast, and a hot drink. Even though there were only 6 other people, he managed to serve the later-arrived girls before me. I just gave up after that.
