Nice hotel, great pool with simulated beach, swim up bar etc. Rooms OK but air conditioning very poor so room far too warm. Televison has lots of channels but none in English so be aware if you want a quiet night in watching the television as we did after 6 weeks travelling. Restaurant food good but pricey as is everything in Tahiti. We found road cafe's (turn left out of hotel 400 metres)....good cheap food and fun. Overall a good place but Tahiti very disapointing, dirty, untidy, and it felt unsafe. Stay on Morea instead.....lots of great beaches and hotels plus superb beaches.

Room Tip: Get room facing beach

Great Hotel for a stopover. Really good service and good food. Is about 10 minute drive from the city centre and not far from airport.

Like most of you reading this I too read many reviews in the process of wondering where to stay in Papeete. On the way over we stayed at the Sofitel and on the way back we stayed here at the Manava. It is a nicely laid out resort. Highlight is obviously the pool, although it would be good if the bar stayed open until at least the sun sets. Sitting in the Infinity Pool sipping a cocktail and watching the sunset with the love of your life is why we all end up in Tahiti, isnt it? Going for a snorkel you need to be aware of the fast marine traffic that is very close to the front of the resort. We chose a garden view room as we didnt envisage spending to much time in the room other than to sleep at it ended out as a good choice as it was very quiet. The Manava is very close to the main road. At night go out the front turn left and about 50- 100 meters up the road is the caravan dinner market. About 6 caravans cooking great value meals at a fraction of the price of hotel restaurants and a chance to mix with the locals.
Free wifi a bonus. Rooms nicely laid out with kitchenette so you can self cater if you wish. Downside is the resort is quite a trek from town so if you are relying on a taxi it can add up. In fairness though they do put on a shuttle at about half the fare price if you are a little more organised. Staff are polite, friendly and helpful. Or maybe that was because we weren't French! I would definitely head back here for one of those lie in the sun do nothing holidays.

Room Tip: Suites facing the lagoon will be very hot as the resort is west facing. Ground floor is very quiet.

There is more an Asian than Polynesian feel to the design of the this place. Checking in we moved our luggage to our room ourselves through largely open and industrial feeling design spaces. The rooms are as described and unusual to Americans. However one of the more challenging issues were climate control. The AC was weak in the room, bar, restaurant and significantly absent in the internet area where the letters of the key boards were missing due to the humidity of the hands touching them.

Breakfast was adequate and dinner was better than BB Pearl Beach.

We had a loud wedding party group next to us which interrupted our sleep.
