This resort as only few rooms which offers stunning view of lake from its room and balcony. The well known "honeymoon cottage" are the only 2 averagely cleaned and fairly lit rooms. Other lake side cottages are old and dusty. The management (govt.) does not bother to upgrade furniture or replace garments.
Food here is average and most of the times served cold.
The general and technical staff was prompt to serve after raising the issue ( about very basic and bare necessities) and fix the problem.

Had this property been in the hands of a 5-star chain like Taj or Hyatt, this hotel could have easily been the best in Kochi. The location is beautiful and the size of the property is beyond ideal. But that's all the praise I can shower on Bolgatty. Like most government run organisations and bodies, this hotel too is badly managed. Rooms are just about clean, linen is dirty, food is often served cold and calls are hardly ever answered. We were put up in the Deluxe room in the new wing. Once again, great view of the water and nothing else.

Since we were bringing in the new year in Kochi, my family and I decided to attend the 'Gala Dinner', the food for which ran out by 9.45 pm. Chilled beer ran out soon after. Servers and waiters were busy clicking selfies with foreigners. The guests? To hell with them. The DJ was definitely an employee's 16 year old son who knew nothing of music, and was called in because of an obvious lack of funds.
To make matters worse, dishes from the night before were served for breakfast on 1st morning.

You could say I'm being very harsh but at the prices they are charging for their rooms, anyone would be disappointed.

There are a few employees who were genuinely sweet and caring, but the rest were going out doing a job they didn't really care much about.

I sincerely hope, for their own sake, they realise the value of the priceless gem they're letting go to waste.

A beautiful serene and quiet palace hotel. Very hard working staff provided great service. Hotel restaurant food was average , service above average.
This hotel needs updating in almost every way. facilities are showing wear and age. The hotel also retains its history and character well. A bit too isolated for touring the city.
I have one substantial, serious complaint. We set up an airport pickup for our arrival after 24 hours of travel time from Seattle. We arrived at 4 AM. No pickup was there! Lucky we have been to India before and knew of the "pre-pay airport taxi desk". On arrival at the hotel, there was no real explanation given. Clearly they need a new driver or travel desk.

It was a palace but now it's just a Government run institute... Went there for a wedding, imagine they ran out of water on the wedding day! need I say anything more, It's pricey for the service offered!

That said it's a nice peaceful place with an old world charm, don't expect things like a Lake View or Golf course, or that beautiful Swimming pool they show in the pictures on their site.

Though it is somewhat far from the popular beaches like Fort Kochi beach, it is quite spacious and ideal for relaxing. You can enjoy your morning & evening walks here. The place is quite peaceful. The buffet dinner and breakfast was good and had a lot of varieties. It also has a small swimming pool near the restaurant. Good place.

Room Tip: Upper storey rooms overlooking the waters
