This is an old hotel. Has the old Bali charm in the style of the buildings, the garden and the staff. I found all previous reviews on this hotel close to the mark. The small irritating things are almost petty but I feel would help both guests and owners. The bathrooms in the villa units although workable and clean enough, need a drying mat near the door so your wet feet don't slide on the tiled floor. We picked up a cheap mat from Hardys and used that. We lost the English speaking foxtel stations suddenly one day but no one the hotel staff knew why and we never got them back. The room that you think you are getting may be different to what is in the contract although the same type.
If you want to watch dvd's you might want to hire a player or buy a brand new one for $20 from the dvd shop up the road next to Downtown restaurant. The pool is small, not much space to walk around, is only about 4'6" at deepest end but is well maintained. It can become a crowded house and with only 5 lounges up for grabs you may not get a spot at the pool if you get there at the wrong time of the day.
The hotel staff are friendly and try to be helpful. Our breakfast consisted of a small plate of cut fruits, a pot of tea, 2 pieces of toast with egg any style and a satchel each of jam and butter. Breakfast is hand delivered to your room. You need to book brekky each morning or you can order the same brekky for the same time each day from the outset of your stay.
The hotel is located about 500 metres south of Hardy's supermarket on the west side and not far to walk to a couple of decent restaurants. Basically the hotel is quiet as I think you can get in Bali with hardly any road noise from the back of the hotel.
Would recommend getting an online account with the Bali Bluebird taxi. Works a bit like Uber except you are charged a minimum of Rp30k. This will get you at least upto about 4kms regardless of whether you go 200 metres up the road or wherever 30k gets you. After your 30k the meter continues as normal. For example we booked a Bluebird taxi for early morning pickup from Jati Sanur to Ngurah Rai airport. The total cost was Rp101k. And the driver was there on the knocker. The trouble is that Bluebird are prohibited from taking travelers from the airport outside the Arrivals exit. If you need a Bluebird taxi from airport you cannot use your Bluebird account for airport pickup. You have to take your chances at Departures drop off area upstairs.
For a quiet holiday on a budget this place is okay.
