The hotel is around 1.5 hours to 2 hours away from Bali airport depending on traffic. And around 15-20 minutes from Downtown Ubud.

The hotel is located on a hill, next to many rice terrace and you are surrounded with trees from each angel, the hotel is made up from 8 rooms, each with its on style.

There is a very nice swimming pool.

We stayed in Shiva room, there was a slight problem with the hot water for one day. Shiva have a nice balcony as well.

The hotel staff is very friendly, the rooms are not modern, so if you are looking for modern rooms, maybe all of Ubud area is not a place for you to stay. However the rooms are very clean, spacious, and have a very nice Indonesian/Indian style to it.

Since it is a botique hotel, do not expect a very great room service after 10PM, I tried to call many times room service, and even went outside to look for anyone from the staff, however there was none !!!! The reception door was closed as well as the kitchen area. I think the hotel should focus and be prepared for night time room service.

The breakfast is nice, however it is menu based, and the menu never change, so expect to be eat eggs (sunny side up, omelete, scrambeled) with two pieces of sausages, and a selection of pancakes. Do not expect a variety or open buffet.

The hotel was great, and I would return back and recommend it to others as well.

P.S. most of Ubud shuts down after 6pm, So do not expect to find any attractions or night life in Ubud in general, and especially around the hotel, there is nothing to do within a walking distance, except farm lands.

Room Tip: All rooms have their own style, we stayed at Shiva

We loved the Villa Sarna almost as much as we loved Ubud itself! The Saraswati villa was well equipped, spacious and very nicely decorated. The shower was also excellent. A/C worked perfectly. Breakfast here is a real treat and the staff consistently did their best to accommodate our needs. The free shuttle service is a god send as it's quite a hilly trek to get to and from town on foot.

For the more adventurous it's worth asking the hotel about its VW Thing! (Yep, that's the name of the vehicle if you didn't know). We hired this charming little car and its driver for a day tour of Ubud and it was easily one of the highlights from our entire time away!

We stayed at Villa Sarna September/October for our honeymoon last year and had a fantastic stay! The staff were all so nice and accommodating, we felt very at home. Our room was huge and had a lovely view. The breakfast was yummy every morning (my husband was obsessed with the banana pancakes!) and we ordered room service and a few lunches by the pool that were all very fresh and delivered in a timely manner.
We spent hours by the pool relaxing in the little cabana. The Villa is smaller with only a handful of rooms so we were by ourselves at the pool most of the time. It felt like we were in our own jungle oasis!
We also took their bike tour to the volcano and through some cool villages that we would not have otherwise seen. Towards the end of the ride you go through these amazing rice fields that strech on forever!
I would absolutely stay at Villa Sarna again. Yes it is ourside of the city, but it is so much quieter and more peaceful there. The shuttles were running most of the day and in to the night. We ended up taking a taxi back one night because we stayed out later than expected, and the taxi driver knew exactly where it was.
It is definietly worth the price and I would reccomend this place to everyone.

We stayed at Villa Sarna Krishina room for 3 nights.

Our room was big, bathroom was huge and also came with a walkin wardrobe.

We enjoyed our breakfast every morning at the dinning room with beautiful view. We also utilised the free shuttle, which runs every 2 hrs to Ubud centre every day. They always pick us up on time.

The room service offered by Sarna was tasty. You can have it deliver to your room or they can set it up in the dinning room.

All the staff work for Sarna were very friendly. They always say hi to us and smiling.

I agreed with previous review that things are charged in USD in this place, which is annoying, cos you just don't know the cost in IDR until you check out, then they convert it into IDR based on exchange rate of that day. Why don't they just price things in IDR to start with!

We found our room a bit dusty as well. Please check the mosquito net in Krishina room, it's full of dusts.

Over all, we enjoyed our stay. With the shuttle provided, it doesn't bother us it's far away from Ubud centre.

"Balik kampung"- back to basics, a perfect place to find tranquility. Stayed in a saraswati room with simple basic amenities, that's all that is needed if one wants relaxation, simplicity. There is even a little courtyard at your doorstep, with a cup of coffee / tea , you can enjoy sitting out at the verandah, gazing and enjoying the morning sun or evening sunset view of the rice fields.... what more can one ask???
