We stayed in Villa Sarna for 5 nights in Feb 2011. We were a large family group and we booked out the entire hotel. I was able to see all the rooms and they were all beautifully decorated and clean. The staff could not have been more accommodating and made the trip even more enjoyable. The hotel is about 15 mins from the centre of Ubud, but for those wanting a more peaceful surrounding away from the traffic jams of central Ubud, then this was a great choice. There is a local village a few minutes walk up the road and it is easy to walk down into the rice paddies and a local temple. The hotel offers regular shuttle services to and from town, so the distance is no burden at all. All in all, I would highly recommend Villa Sarna.

Our stay at Villa Sarna was a delightful experience. As we were with a large family group the staff looked after our every need with a friendly smile.
We stayed in the Vishnu Villa which was very private, with wonderful views and the room was beautifully decorated, large bathroom and a large day bed on the deck for that pampering massage.
Thank you to all the staff for making it such a memorable holiday.

We stayed at Villa Sarna for 4 nights of our honeymoon. We really liked the room (Brahma) and the grounds. It is a beautiful place perched on top of a hill overlooking a valley with jungle and rice fields. The location is about 20-30 minutes out of town but we didn't mind this because we were looking for somewhere a bit quieter and they have a good shuttle bus service.

After reading all of the extremely positive reviews (and given the room tariff rates) we expected a bit more in terms of the staff and value though. The staff are very friendly but we found them a little disorganised at times (eg missing turndown one night) and didn't experience the same connection that other people seem to refer to in their reviews. We also agree with a recent review that the room tariffs are very high (by Bali standards anyway) for what you get. The rooms are nice but not extravagent and the pool and reception areas are very modest and could do with serious updating and some nice new chairs and cushions.

Overall, we were glad we stayed here but there are definitely some areas for improvement!

Thank you for the review that has been given. We would like to clarify a few points that have been mentioned in this review. Firstly, we are a 15-20 minute drive into town depending on traffic. In terms of room rates, we are in line if not lower than most of the hotels of our caliber. With regards to missing turn-down service one night - this was mostly likely due to a "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. We respect our guest's privacy and our staff will not enter the room when they see that sign. If the guest accidentally puts the sign when they leave the hotel, they can inform us at any time and we will happily perform the turn-down service. Our staff is extremely diligent about the turn-down service and in no way would they purposely neglect to do this on any given night. Furthermore, as we are a very small boutique hotel, we do not have a large reception area. A reception area similar to one found at one of the larger chain hotels just simply would not look right at our establishment. In the pool area, we are in the process of updating all of our lounge chairs, cushions, etc. to make it an even more inviting and relaxing area than it already is. Our pool area exudes natural beauty and serenity with its relaxing veranda, surrounding greenery, fountain, and bamboo, among many other features. We hope that this response has been helpful and again we only want the best for our guests and will go to great lengths to make sure everyone is taken care of.

If you are looking for the perfect romantic getaway then the Villa Sarna is the place. From the moment you are welcomed by the fabulous staff to stay in your beautiful villa you want for nothing. We stayed in the Brahma room which has a balcony overlooking the lush valley and the gorgeous pool. A delicious breakfast was served in our room every morning, we has lunch by the pool and either went into town for dinner (using the hotels free shuttle service) or ordered room service. As there are only seven separate villas you feel that you have the whole place to yourselves at times. I cannot say enough about the high quality of service, the delicious food, the beautiful grounds, the pool and relaxing daybed and the overall level of quality. Ubud is a fantastic place with great sightseeing and shopping.

I have just returned from 3 nights at villa sarna. I can only say how wonderful this place is. The location is stunning and the rooms are beautiful. The staff are very helpful and I was particularly impressed with our fantastic tour guide who showed us all of the beautiful places Bali has to offer.
One night when my friend and I decided to stay in the villa instead of heading into ubud we stubbled across the owner of villa sarna in the bar. We sat and had a few drinks with Mr Sarna who informed us about the history of his hotel and made an extra effort to make us feel extremely welcome.
I can only higly recommend villa sarna, probably one of the best places I have ever stayed and Ubud is magical. If you go look out for Whiskey (resident dog) he is great!
