This was not our first trip to La Serre and we have come to expect excellent food and service - and we were not disappointed. We both had the Salmon special with lobster, shrimp, risotto and vegetables - around $36 (which may not be cheap, but it was excellent salmon and lobster). Soup and salad were also very good.

This is an experienced staff and they are professionals. The house chardonnay was also very nice. We were too full for dessert, which was a shame as their creme brulee is wonderful.

The restaurant walls (and some ceilings) are covered with the most beautiful frame and panel mahogany I've seen in a long time. It is a bit on the darker, romantic side.

Visited for restaurant week. It's a walk back in time, especially in the main dining room. Ceiling to floor lined with a rustic wood finish. The duck was amazing. Can't wait to try the carpaccio next time!

We have not eaten at La Serre in many years. Our friends talked us into meeting there during restaurant week. I always go expecting a restaurant français and I never find one… There is a pretentiousness that, based on the food and service, is not justified. We had the tuna and duck entrees. They were both very good, but surprisingly were not hot when they were served. Our plates were cleared before everyone had finished. The restaurant-week price was very reasonable, the portions were small, and it will probably be a long time before we return.

We decided to come to La Serre during Restaurant Week in Albany since all meals are $20.17 per person which included an appetizer, entree and dessert. We had early reservations due to a show we were attending at The Egg. We were the first customers there. Reservations are recommended. Restaurant started to fill when we left at 6:30.

The person greeting us was very nice and a server arrived at our table shortly after we were seated. Since items were discounted during this week, we split a bottle of red wine (house wine) and it was very good. Two people in the group ordered mixed drinks from a fully stocked bar and they were expertly mixed.

We had just four choices on the discounted Restaurant Week menu. Three of us chose the April Spring salad and one chose the mozzarella salad. Both were excellent. Small salads but that's all you need before enjoying the entree.

Two people chose the Duck from the menu - cooked medium rare - with red-skinned mashed potatoes with roasted veggies. Both said dishes were excellent. Another had Wild Mushroom Ravioli which was her favorite dish from a previous visit. I had chicken with red skinned mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. All were delicious. Everyone was eager to share a bite from our plates since every dish was made to perfection.

Dessert was included in our meal. Carrot cake, limoncello cake and flourless chocolate cake were our choices. These cakes could melt in your mouth! No complaints!

The service was great and the server, and other staff members checked in on our table from time to time but was not overbearing.

The food is quite good although a bit pricey for the amount you receive. La Serre participates in almost every coupon program. When you use a coupon there they treat you like a second class person!!!! Most of their coupons include a "glass" of wine. Well it's more like a half of a glass, because when you order another glass it is you receive much more. They should not participate in coupon programs if they are going to treat people poorly!!!
