We stayed at The Nisala Arana Boutique Hotel and took dinner there 4 out of the 5 nights we were there. Roy the chefs cooking was tasty and both Roytha and Chandrebala's service (Apols for the spelling) was great. Really personal and tailored to our dietary needs. One of us was allergic to rice (this was not a problem)

We were looking for a nice dinner experience to close out our Sri Lanka trip and looked up the reviews. Quite misleading (makes me question authenticity) as we don't seem to have enjoyed the same experience. We were not staying in the hotel so we drove specifically there to have dinner. The $20/person is def not a good value for money considering we had much better food experiences at 5* exclusive properties for less than that. Yes the staff was fine but as we were the only ones having dinner, we felt awkward having dinner while people were standing looking at us, quite spooky and to a point we started feeling unsafe. No restroom available, we washed our hands in the kitchen. The food was decent, a choice of 2 courses but I really believe we could have the same for much less. So all in all, the Pavillion experience was the low point for us in our amazing Sri Lanka trip

Dear Serraj,

We are certainly sorry to hear of your poor experience at The Pavilion by Nisala Arana although please note our reviews are genuine and we hope not entirely midleading or misleading. As you will recall we were officially closed on that day and only on your requests to call back our staff we were able to accommodate your dinner booking. We did also negotiate unusually to accommodate your request for a $20 reduced 3-Course Dinner where our normal rate is US$30 Per Person and US$40 for our Seafood BBQ and Seafood Paella Options.

We appreciate that our simple stylish environment is not for everybody and we do understand the strong appeal and preference to 5 star hotels with our Middle-Eastern guests. Please note the guest bathroom is very near to the Pavilion and so I am sorry you missed this and had to visit the kitchen to wash your hands. With regards to our staff making you feel unsafe I am at a complete loss and can only think they were maybe over attentive and watching too closely to ensure everything was done correctly for you on that night.

I can only apologise again and we hope your experience does not scare you from continuing to search and discover even more unique dining options like we have created at Nisala Arana.

Best Wishes,
Benjamin Pereira

Great tasty food. Set in beautiful gardens this is a tranquil place to eat. Yes you pay $20 for 2 courses but they are beautifully prepared and far superior to some of the food that you eat in Sri Lanka. If you are staying at the hotel they will also prepare special meals to your liking. Highly recommended, but call first if you are not staying at the hotel.

Can't speak more highly of the wonderful food provided by The Pavilion. The menu was simple yet imaginative and of excellent quality. Soup, curries, desserts, nothing disappointed. A great chef and very dutiful wait staff.
